pKey PlayersKyle Pitts – Pitts has become a weapon in that Atlanta offense he has no shame in throwing just a simple jump ball to Pitts if he sees him 1 on 1. He’ll also utilize him on drags to get him the ball in space.OffensePassing Vet is a very quick passer of the football. Hes not one to sit around and go through multiple reads. The ball is usually in the hands of his TE’s Kyle Pitts or Hayden Hurst in less than a few seconds. Breece Hall will also be focused on in the passing attack. He likes his flats and seams. He’ll usually attack the seam with Pitts if he notices some open space and no one lined up right above him. The TE’s and RB are his main reads it seems. A combination of slants and flats were a concept he used consistently in the passing game. He would also hot route a slant on plays where he needed a big conversion. Gun Wing was one of his go to formations throughout the game. A combination of Hayden Hurst on a seam and Kyle Pitts on a corner was a go to for him on big plays as well. In the red zone he favored jet sweeps. In our game he ran it a couple times with Calvin Ridley. Ridley finished with 2 receptions and they both were from jet sweeps. Rushing Breece Hall is a solid power back. He’ll utilize him in between the tackles on inside zones and HB Base’s out of shotgun. He also liked to run an inside zone out of pistol ace. As i said above, Jet sweeps with Calvin Ridley are a red zone go to for the Falcons and just about everyone so be aware of that possibility. He also will run with Matt Corral even though hes not extremely athletic. It seemed that Vet also did a good job with the “hat count” and switching run plays either left or right when need be. Patterson ended up with only one carry and is mainly used as a WR option out of the backfield. Within the 5 he elects to run inside runs. He’ll even get Breece Hall a look at FB to try to dive it in.DefenseDefense Vet also has the base align defensive strategy. With minimal adjustments its easy to pick apart. He usually users Deion Jones over the middle and looks for a deep route. His use isnt very good and gets lost in the shuffle defensively. He’ll over-pursue to the outside if you show a outside run leaving the middle wide open for a cut upfield. When the Falcons are in Nickel you have to be aware of the nickel corner who is usually his speedster Kendall Sheffield. Vet likes to occasionally user him and come in on a user blitz (did it about 3/4 times in our game). He’ll utilize all coverages and send a blitz when you establish a run and when you move the ball down field trying to throw you off your flow.Suggested GameplanOn Defense: After not being able to solve Kyle Pitts while not hurting myself in other ares (ie. the run game) i gotta say my suggested gameplan should be taken with a grain of salt. Kyle Pitts opens up alot for his offense just by being on the field but know that his offensive gameplan goes through Breece Hall. If he’s able to establish the run and get comfortable then he is hard to stop. For his passing attack i suggest more zone than man because of Kyle Pitts ability to beat anyone one on one. Come up and take away his quick reads which would be the flats on either side then look to watch a corner route/seam route from a TE. On big downs have something prepared for double slants like a Tampa 2 and user over Kyle Pitts for the seam. On Offense: Run the ball as much as possible. He’s not very good at stopping the run especially out of heavy sets. His LB’s and DE’s are too small and get bullied by offensive linemen. If you evade Grady Jarret you should be fine. Also let him overpursue with Deion Jones. He doesnt take good angles to the RB at all. After you establish the run you’ll be free to do as you wish in the passing game with some PA calls. He’ll bite with his user and not be able to recover over top. If you want an easy day against his base align. Have a lot of slot, trey and any other formation that has most of its numbers on one side of the field. You can tear apart his defense with easy RPO bubbles and quick passes until he adjusts.p
