Trade Alert: a Dolphin is on the move!

pThe Miami Dolphins have traded outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel to the New Orleans Saints for a third round draft selection in the upcoming draft. p
pAndrew Van Ginkel is coming off a career high in sacks last season. He had 13 sacks, 35 solo tackles, 1 forced fumble, 5 interceptions, 1 touchdown, and 4 pass deflections. The Miami Dolphins were expecting to extend his contract later this season, but with the drafting of outside linebacker Christian Harris, Van Ginkel became expendable. In the 8 games that he’s played so far this season, he has racked up 16 tackles and 2 sacks. Andrew Van Ginkel has still played all three downs, but his lack of productivity this season hasn’t gone unnoticed. The Dolphins use him as a linebacker in their 3-4 base defense and as a defensive linemen in nickel and dime packages. He was a do it all type of linebacker last season and hopefully he can regain that caliber of play with the Saints for the remainder of the season. The Miami Dolphins are expected to sign another linebacker in free agency, but the team will only have about $1M to work with after the trade has been finalized.p
