NFC Mid Season Review

Ten weeks of Premier Madden League football have come and gone. We are officially onto week 11 of the regular season and we are here to check who is leading each division and who is officially the bottom feeder of each division.

NFC East:

Previous Leader: Dallas Cowboys (4-0)

Leader: Philadelphia Eagles (9-1)  – The Eagles have been on a roll ever since their close loss to the superbowl champs. Only three teams have come remotely close to beating them and they have all come out of the AFC South. The Eagles are a huge problem for the NFC and if no one steps up their game then the Eagles will find themselves as the NFC representative  in the superbowl.

Previous Bottom: Washington Football Team (0-4)

Bottom: New York  Giants(3-6) – The Giants started off the season on a two game winning streak and finally just won a game after a 6 game losing streak. Turnovers, specifically interceptions have been their Achilles heel, however, they showed that they can compete with high level coaches as long as they aren’t throwing themselves out of games. They will have a lot of work to do if they want to make the playoffs. One or two more losses will most likely kick them out of the playoffs, and with their schedule, they will need to play almost perfect football in order for that to not happen.

NFC West:

Previous Leader: Los Angeles Rams (3-1)

Leader:  Seattle Seahawks (6-3) – Whoever heard of trading your best players and having a better record without them than with them. Somehow the Seahawks are making this work as they lead the NFC West after trading Russell Wilson and DK Metcalf. Maybe the speed of both players made them play reckless and now with slower players they are able to focus on playing “football.” Only time will tell if this level of play will keep up, however, for now they are the leader.

Previous Bottom: Arizona Cardinals (1-3)

Bottom: Arizona Cardinals (5-4) – If you were to bet me that after 10 weeks the NFC West would be the only division who would all have a winning record then you would have won. The West have all played really well so far this season, however, the Cardinals have made strides in the offseason and so far this season to show that their spot as the worst team last season was just a fluke. The schedule gets harder in the back end of the season so we will see who is for real or not, however, right now no one can deny that the  NFC West is the premier division of the Premier Madden League.

NFC North:

Previous Leader: Green Bay Packers(4-0)

Leader: Green Bay Packers (5-4) – Oh how the mighty have fallen. The Packers with Aaron Rodgers are one of the most dangerous teams in the league, however, with Love,  are just not the same. Rodgers going down with his injury has exposed the Packers a bit, however, thanks to their first 4 games have kept them in the lead. Rodgers will be back soon and if the Packers can wither this storm, then they should be able stick with the lead going forward.

Previous Bottom: Minnesota Vikings (0-4)

Bottom: Minnesota Vikings (1-8) – Getting Dalvin Cook back should have revitalized this Vikings team, however, it hasn’t helped at all. They are the second worst offense in the league as teams are able to stack the box and force Mond to throw on them. The Vikings should look at this season as a good opportunity to scout the quarterback of their future. Unless they are going to do  a miraculous turn around they will be picking in the top 10 where they should get their pick at quarterback.

NFC South:

Previous Leader: Atlanta Falcons (2-2)

Leader: Atlanta Falcons (4-5) – If we look at the NFC West as the Premier divison of the NFC we should look at the NFC South as the worst. The fact that a team can be leading their division with a less than .500 record says something about the division as a whole. Someone has to be the best of the worst and  right now it’s the Falcons. Kyle Pitts and Matt Corral are a perfect duo who have the Falcons as the third best passing team in the league. If they can continue the production without the interceptions then they will easily keep this lead moving forward.

Previous Bottom: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2) –

Bottom: Carolina Panthers (2-8) – The Carolina Panthers are experimenting with their team at the moment. Cam Newton’s return home to Carolina hasn’t been the homecoming they were hoping for so the Panthers have turned to rookie Spencer Sanders. While Sanders doesn’t have the throwing accuracy that teams covet, he does have the speed and arm strength that you need to succeed in the league. It looks like Carolina will give him a try to end the season, however, we expect that he won’t stay the starting quarterback for long.

If the season ended today, the Eagles, Packers, Seahawks, and Falcons all would win their division, with the Cowboys, 49ers, and Rams as the wildcard teams. This would leave out  previous playoff teams like the Lions, and Football Team. I expect this list of playoff teams and division leaders to change dramatically in the next 4 weeks. We will come back and see the results, however, for now those underdog teams have their moment in the sun.
