The Buffalo Bills have been one of the most interesting teams in PML this season, both on and off the field.
Let’s start from before the season even started, where Head Coach Bubba was suspended from being on the sideline with his team for poor sportsmanship. Not the start to the (Pre) season the team was hoping for, players, coaches and the front office were worried to say the least.
Enter DK Metcalf
The Bills and Seahawks made the biggest PML trade to date sending Superstar WR DK Melcalf to the Bills for 3 1st round picks, BUF 22 and 23, and DET 22. It didn’t take very long for DK Metcalf to get involved, Week 1 without Steph Diggs, DK put up 173 yards and 3 TDs on 4 catches vs the Steelers. Metcalf and Allen seemed to have instant chemistry, but the good times wouldn’t last very long.
Week 2 Bills faced off against the Tom Brady led Broncos. The Bills offense was as advertised putting up 42 points, but on the defensive side of the ball the Bills gave up over 600 total yards and 72 points. This was the worst defensive game the Bills played all season and it wasn’t close. Kmac and Brady were playing on rookie mode and did whatever they wanted to do. Just when things couldn’t get any worse… The Bengals came to Orchard Park…
Week 3, This is a game Bills fans hope to forget. KingKe and the Bengals capitalized on the offense’s many mistakes and escaped Buffalo with a 38-35 win. Although this would be Stephon Diggs last game suspended, Buffalo had earned themselves a 1-2 record and one of the worst defenses in the league.
Week 4 vs the Chicago Bears and LQ. The Bills defense still was struggling and didn’t have an answer for Justin Fields. Fields lit up the Bills offense for 415 and 5 TDs, but luckily the addition of Diggs back to the Bills offense was just barley enough to squeak the Bills over the Bears, on a last second failed 2-PT conversion attempt by the Bears. Bills stay alive and advance to 2-2
Week 5 vs GB, the EA sim gods blessed the Bills in a sim win, despite the Bills offense doing absolutely nothing, the defense forced enough turnovers to win the game 17-20. Bills advance to 3-2
Week 6 vs NE, a crucial division game, made even tougher with Head Coach ProblemWright returning for his first full season. The Pats defense had no answer for Allen and company putting up 41 points. Big win for a struggling Bills team and a win that may be crucial down the stretch…
Week 7 vs NYJ, the Jets have struggled vs the Bills to this point in the cycle, and this week would be the same, as the Bills WR core was too much to handle for the Jets, producing 3 different 100 yard receivers, all with at least 1 TD as well. Allen had a perfect passer rating with only 1 incompletion. His performance was enough to earn Chad Kelly some snaps at QB as well. Bills advance to 5-2
Week 8 vs LAR, Que coming off a disappointing loss to Ant in week 7, was on a mission to bounce back strong. The Rams defense played lights out forcing 3 INTs, including a beautiful user lurk with minutes remaining, putting Que in the redzone with a chance to take the lead. Que and the Rams would go up 24-20 with only a minute remaining, but that’s too much time for Josh Allen. The Bills would march down the field, into and give themselves a chance at redemption. With no time remaining Allen found a wide open DK Metcalf for a walkoff TD win.
Week 9 vs NE, rematch vs Problem. This time Problem would slowly churn out a effective run game, and forced a crucial turnover in the end zone that would seal the game, Bills lose 28-35, advance to 6-3
Week 10 Bye
Week 11 vs NYJ, This was an embarrassment to the coaching staff of the Bills. Events happened completely unrelated to PML things got out of hand. This was not how we want our franchise to be represented and the Coaches have been reprimanded. Bills won the game and advanced to 7-3.
Week 12 vs DET, Josh Allen and the offense couldn’t get out of their own way throwing 5 INTs. The defense wasn’t any better allowing Ty Johnson to run wild for over 200 yards. Despite all that the Bills still found their way into a chance at winning but couldn’t get the stop they needed, Bills lose 41-38 and advance to 7-4
Week 13 vs BAL, Josh Allen moved the offense with no problem, putting up 42 points. Lamar Jackson threw only one incompletion all game but it wasn’t enough. The league office would review this game and come to the conclusion they would suspend Allen 1 game. The Bills staff was outraged but nevertheless, Bills advance to 8-4
Week 14 vs MIA, another crucial division game as the AFC east was neck and neck, the Dolphins came in revamped with new X Factor QB Russell Wilson. But the Bills came ready for the task, Allen going almost perfect 15/16 for 378 4TDs, and the defense doing their part forcing 5 INTs, enough to propel the Bills past the Fins and into sole 1st place in the East. Bills advance to 9-4
Week 15 vs MIN, Jameis takes the helm of the offense with a suspended Allen watching from the sidelines. After throwing 3 INTs, the score was 20-26, and the Bills chances looked hopeless. Until Tremaine Edmunds striped Dalvin Cook, picked up the ball and ran it to the end zone putting the Bills up 1 and keeping their playoff chances alive.
That brings us up to date, to this point of the season Josh Allen is has put himself right in the thick of if the MVP conversion, DK Metcalf has proven to be the most dangerous WR in the PML, and the Bills are leading the AFC East and are the #2 seed with 3 weeks remaining. The Bills have yet to play the Browns, the Fins for a second time, and the Colts. All three huge AFC games, that could change the landscape of the playoffs. It’s too early to consider this season a success, but a Playoff Berth will be a start. Winning the division for a second year, and most importantly performing come playoff time. The Bills got embarrassed at home last season losing a heartbreaker to Zstar and the Chargers. That cannot happen this season, especially with the improvements the Bills made this season. SuperBowl or bust… Go Bills
