Detroit Cornerstone: Jeff Okudah

The best player on the Detroit defense, Jeff Okudah, is having another amazing year in this defensive scheme. He burst out onto the scene last season finishing top 5 in Pass deflected and Interceptions. He is on pace to repeat. He leads the team in INTs for the second time in a row, with 11 interceptions. Here is Okudah’s stat line in year 2 with his new coaching staff.

39 Tackles

11 INTs

2 TDs

This man has been an absolute stud in this defense. Not only has he been lockdown, but he has been stuffing the run. As a corner in this defense, you have to be able to tackle and that is what he does. Not many teams can pull of a two high safety scheme with a below average roster, but somehow Detroit is making it happen. The one unfortunate thing about Okudah is he became a superstar on this defense last season…his ability? Return man.

We can only imagine the things he would do if he just had an ability to work with at the least. This defense is against all odds and add a talent disadvantage every single week, but they’re making it happen starting with their superstar corner Jeff Okudah. Let’s see if he can continue his success moving into the playoffs with a slightly better team than last time….and possibly a home playoff game.
