Before the season started, the Lions traded for QB Baker Mayfield. His attributes look really good; however, he is one of the worst QBs in Madden gameplay wise. He started off rough in his first few games, but got the Lions back on track leading the NFC North over the loaded Green Bay Packers. There is some speculation as to whether Baker will be used in the playoffs because of his poor play during the regular season. DET signed Trace McSorely to a long-term deal as well as Baker. I expect a dual QB system next season or at least in the playoffs. Only time will tell what happens moving forward with the QB position. Let’s take a look at Baker’s stats this season:
3927 Passing Yards
32 Touchdowns
26 Interceptions
70.7 Completion Percentage
107 QB Rating
These are pretty good numbers for a QB throwing to one of the worst receiving corps in the league. DET traded for Tyler Boyd who is good, but his lack of speed sometimes backfires when facing loaded speedy secondaries in his division. Garrett Wilson was drafted in the first round and was expected to be a star in DET. He turned out to be one of six normal development drafted players for DET. It seems like very single card hasn’t gone this franchise’s way but somehow Baker is making it work. TJ Hockenson is the best receiver on this team and he is the tight end. I expect him to play a big role come playoff time along with D’Andre Swift. Who we have heard has been “hidden” from teams before they attempt a playoff run.
