New Sheriff In Town

pThe Giants quarterback situation has been a revolving door for the past couple of seasons. Daniel Jones was the starter who lost it to then rookie CJ Stroud last season. Jones had the speed and accuracy of a NFL quarterback, however, he lacked the throw power. He would often have his passes intercepted while being hit or the ball just took too long in the air and fell in the hands of the defender. The Giants gave Stroud the reins last season and he played about as bad as any rookie has in recent memory. Coach Burn assured the media that Stroud’s rookie season was just growing pains and he was the quarterback of the future for the New York Giants.p pCoach Burn wasn’t lying when he spoke about Stroud. Things started to change for the Giants front office when Quarterback Justin Fields was put on the trade block. Coach Burn wanted to see what the price for the speedy quarterback was. Early in the offseason, Coach Burn and the Giants front office offered pick 8 in the first and third rounds along with cornerback Adoree Jackson. The Bears front office didn’t like the offer, feeling that Fields was worth much more than that. After this conversation the two teams partied ways and Stroud was set to once again be the starter. The Giants went about their offseason as normal, preparing for the draft.p pEverything changed on the day of the draft. The Bears front office came out with an aggressive offer of Pick 8, Adoree Jackson, and Darian Kinnard. After going back and forth, the Giants stuck with their original offer, feeling that this was the most they were willingly to part with. After mulling it over, the Bears front office accepted the request in writing and now the only thing left was the physical aspect of the trade. This part was tricky for both teams as it came down to the final 5 minutes before the deadline was up for the trade to physically be processed. The Giants were ready to stick to their guns and pick the best player available at pick 8 if the trade was not processed. Nonetheless, Justin Fields is the future for the New York Giants and everyone on the team can’t be more excited. Paring Fields with Barkley, Slayton, Toney, Ross, and Engram gives the team speed at every position. This will be it for the Giants, they have everything they need on their roster to succeed. It will be up to Coach Burn to make sure the team lives up to their potential. This  could either be one of the best trades in New York Giants history or one of the worst, however, only time will tell.p
