We are in our 4th season of PML and things are starting to get interesting fellas. So here are my power rankings going into this season for the AFC. I will provide a breakdown for each half of the conference.
1 – Broncos (Defending AFC Champions)
2 – Bills
3 – Chiefs (Defending AFC #1 Seed)
4 – Texans
5 – Jaguars
6 – Patriots
7 – Dolphins
8 – Ravens
Top 8 Breakdown: It is pretty clear who the top 2 dawgs are in the AFC. It is the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos. Kmac has went back to back in winning both the Super Bowl and the AFC Championship. He has also done this with the LEAST amount of talent out of all the competing AFC teams. This is why I believe he will win the AFC once again. The main reason the AFC is competitive is because of the broken QB’s in the entire conference. Kmac won beat Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen to get two Super Bowl rings. Each of those QB’s either have Escape Artist or Gunslinger or even both abilities. I’m not trying to take away from the top AFC teams but if Kmac can beat those players with Joe Milton, it looks like we may have a KMFO repeat cycle but this time the person being in charge will be Kmac. Now let’s not count out the other rosters. Those QB’s I mentioned are reasons why I have them in the top 8 alone, there user skill just makes them more dangerous. The second-best user in the AFC in my opinion is Cook. He has done more with less. Sam Howell doesn’t have Gunslinger or Escape Artist. He does not have 96+ speed receivers like those other guys. For all of this I believe he is the main contender to Kmac in the AFC. However, due to how unstoppable those other three teams are I have to put the Texans at the #4 spot. A big sleeper for me is the Patriots. Greeny will make it seem like he has given up on this roster and complain about how bad they are…but he will finish over .500 somehow, someway. He is a good user who knows what he is doing defensively to compete. A lot of the teams in this conference have a good combo of user skill and team talent. I really think some more credit has to be given to guys like Cookie boy, Greeny, and Bandit for how they can compete with all of these top tier teams and QB’s. One thing you will notice about the AFC is more than half of the top 8 teams have a QB with either Escape Artist or Gunslinger. It’s a tough conference. This AFC is a bloodbath and the man sitting at the top is Madden pro gamer Kmac.
9 – Chargers
10 – Raiders
11 – Titans
12 – Colts
13 – Steelers
14 – Browns
15 – Bengals
16 – Jets
Bottom 8 Breakdown: It is so weird because every single user in this conference is good in their own right. However, the main reason most of these guys are here is due to the team talent the top guys have. Some of these guys have trouble competing with some of these top teams in the AFC. Yes, the top 8 teams are controlled by amazing users but more than half of them have teams that are extremely hard to stop or score against. One surprise here might be Wimmy at 11. He performed great in the first season making a playoff run, but he has not done much since. He is viewed as one of the best users so I expect him to bounce back, but things just are looking much tougher for him in a very competitive division as well. One team I expect to maybe make noise here is the Raiders. I feel like Dlloyd can really lock in and make a run this year. That AFC West is tough but his roster is looking amazing. He has two shutdown coverage linebackers who can stuff the run. That defense is absolutely scary.
