PML Week 1 Headlines

Season 5 JT starts 1-0

We’ve all heard the stories, we’ve all joked around. But after Madden 22 Season 5 Week 1 in the Premier Madden League, it’s official. Season 5 JT is officially here. The myths and legends of what we may see over the next month can’t be overstated. No one is here for Madden in July like the commissioner himself, JT. And you know what. Good for him, as he starts his Season 5 campaign with a divisional win over the Atlanta Falcons. Spencer Sanders played well today throwing for 333 and TDs. Carolina’s notorious rushing attack gave carries to 7 different players in the box score as they beat the Falcons 45-35. JT has been playing like it’s S5 since S3. It’s just week 1, but the NFC South better watch out.

Bacon gets blown out by CEO… AGAIN

Look I know that CEO is a very fundamentally sound Madden player and that if he played Bacon 10 times, I’d expect him to win 8-9 of those games. I’m not so sure after this past week. 47-0 Final Score in Jerry World. This is following last year when they met too, and the Cowboys beat ‘em 54-0. 111-0 in 2 games is disgraceful. This one hurts especially, after the additions that team made in the offseason. I want to see Bacon be a demon. I want him to surprise some people. After week 1’s performance, I don’t have high hopes.

Is Malik Murphy here to stay?

After skimming through some games and stats, I was trying to find a solid 3rd headline. I could’ve talked about the fact the OG BS started week 1 of the new season a combined 0-3. I could’ve talked about Josh Allen throwing a 92% completion percentage for 400 yards against a tough Miami defense. But I’m going to land on discussing the rookie QB playing well in his first NFL start for the Minnesota Vikings. And yes, I know what you’re thinking. Wumbo played Jefe’s CPU, it shouldn’t count. But I disagree. The rookie threw for 397 for 5 TDs and 2 INTs. Post-game we got a quote from Wumbo, “He’s looking like a Cam Newton clone.” while also understanding that there were some inaccurate passes that led to turnovers. While there’s always room to improve, Malik Murphy is indeed here.
