Ekeler so far thru 2 games is the Chargers leading Rushing [30 att, 134 yards, 4.5 ypc, 0 tds] and Receiver [9 catches, 144 yards, 0 tds] in 2022. Although he is leading the team he can’t seem to hold on to the ball. Ekeler has 3 fumbles in 2 games leading to crucial turnovers in those 2 games.
Coming up on a contract year in 2023 the team has decided to hear what other teams have to offer for the ‘Superstar’ running back. So far the Chargers have heard from 2 contending teams, 1 AFC, 1 NFC.
This week the team is at SoFi Stadium taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars. With Ekeler sitting out expect the carries to be shared between Texas A&M Rookie, Isaiah Spiller, and the Former Browns, stud back up running back, D’Ernest Johnson. Spiller averaging 3.4 yards a carry and Johnson being fresh from free agency.
I assume if Austin Ekeler is still on this roster come week 4, he will be back on the field with the team.
