This is going to be a season-long blog where we take a look at the starting matchups of my opponents and compare them to the starters on the Jets. We will be using the depth charts of our opponents as a reference for their starters. We are also going to take a look at the three biggest threats on the opposing team and identify any possible weaknesses to exploit.

Aaron Rodgers has the best throwing animation in the game and he cant get the ball out of his hands before his plant foot hits the ground. The Green Bay Packers don’t have very many glaring weaknesses, however, they do have a very young nucleus of receivers. The Jets may be able to take advantage of a man pressed look on defense. The Packers young receivers are quick, but most, if not, all have very low release ratings and it may take a second step before they can get off the line of scrimmage.

Players to Watch –

Aaron Rodgers –

A….AROD. He is a Baaaaaaaaad man. Rodgers is arguably one of the top two quarterbacks in the game and to double up with his throwing animation, he has some of the best abilities for a quarterback. ‘Pass Lead Elite’ increases his already 94 rated throw power on bullet passes and ‘Gunslinger’ enhances his already quick release. Rodgers can get the ball out before his plant foot hits the ground. Despite the Packers having very young receivers, Aaron Rodgers has to be pressured all game long in order to stop him. Even then, you just have to hope to make him force a pass into coverage.

Aaron Jones –

He is a matchup nightmare for linebackers and safeties and his ability gives him better odds to catch the ball when he is covered. Jones is a small back and doesn’t have top end speed, but his quickness is what makes him the most dangerous. Big hits against Jones have caused fumbles in the past, so the best way to stop him is to get his face at the line of scrimmage and make him break a tackle.

Kenny Clark –

Jaire Alexander probably should have gone at this spot. Knockout abilities are one of the best abilities to have this madden, but stopping the run up front with a big bodied defensive tackle will help far more than having a shutdown corner. Kenny Clark has a sub 90 overall, but his ‘inside stuff’ ability allows him to blow up inside runs with ease. He is dangerous in the passing game too because offensive linemen are less likely to gain resistance bars when trying to block him. It’s going to be easier for Kenny Clark to attack the quarterback UNLESS he is double teamed. The New York Jets are going to double team Clark all game long regardless of down and distance.

Game Recap –

Zach Wilson outdueled Aaron Rodgers.. That’s right, something no one predicted happening this season. Zach Wilson finished the day with a 110.7 QBR, 236 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions versus Rodgers 79.9 QBR, 367 passing yards, 1 touchdown, and 4 interceptions. The New York Jets have a habit of turning the ball over this season, but in most games they are bailed out by their defense. This game was no different, with the defense exploding from the very start of the game. The Packers took a 7-0 after Zach Wilson gave them a present, but in the second quarter the Jets absolutely exploded. The offense was able to put up 24 points and go into halftime with a 24-10 lead. Pressure caused Rodgers to fumble the ball with under a minute left in the half, which set up a long field goal.

Coming out of halftime, the Jets continued their defensive onslaught. Ashtyn Davis gained player of the week honors for his performance. He had 4 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 1 deflection. Davis stared down Rodgers on almost every snap and dared him to throw it his way. The Jets have given themselves a huge boost of confidence heading into next week when they face off against a very hot Denver Broncos team. The Broncos are one of the top rushing teams in the league so far this season and it’s going to be tough for the Jets, but they will have to limit the long runs if they want to come out of Denver with a victory.
