HD: First things first, congratulations on the Big Game and great turn around compare from last cycle… Lamar Jackson has won this years MVP… When you were hired here in Baltimore you promised us the best Lamar Jackson the league has ever seen, do you feel like you’ve already achieved that goal? reflect a little on his season…
KK: I do think it’s no question this is the best Lamar PML has ever seen. I came in the season will a goal to be “sim dominate “it’s easy to do both but hard to do them together. I think as the year went on i just got better and better with my scheme regardless of the outcome tonight, I’m excited about my team and believe i will be a force all 5 seasons
HD: This won’t be the first time you and Coach Codes have met this season. You mentioned you two matched up week 8 and lost 21-33… How do you feel about this rematch in the biggest game of the season?
KK: I feel confident. I remember after that game thinking i could’ve won that. I remember the turnovers in the redzone being the reason i lost. But that was week 8 if i was the same player i was week 8 i wouldn’t be in the Super Bowl.
HD: You have finished the season with the 3rd best overall offense and 1st best rushing offense… Tampa Bay has one of the best on paper defenses this season with guys like Devin White, Jamel Dean, Antoine Winfield Jr… They have been turnover machines all Post-Season, what is your gameplan offensively to make sure those guys are slowed down?
KK: If you are getting stops it’s ok to get stopped as long as you aren’t turning it over. Do you know how many games I’ve played where i thought i was getting blown out and look up like wow i lost by 2 possessions. If only i didn’t force that pick in the first and go for it on 4th in the second i actually wouldn’t had a chance. Those guys will make plays. We will too. Who is going to make more is the question…
HD: Do you feel like this is your underdog story even though the sportsbook says youre favored?
KK: Ain’t no underdog story. I worked for this and I’m ready for this. I don’t need to feel like an underdog to get motivated. I was born for this and I’m prepared for this.
HD: Are you Concerned about what people will think about this win because you have the Ravens?
KK: H*** nah cause everybody knows it takes major skill to win a PML SUPER Bowl. I don’t care how your team looks. My team isn’t 95 overall. I got them at 82. They are 85 now. Only 4 ability players on the team and I lost two of them before the Super Bowl. That ain’t no excuse cause even if i had 8 and my team was over 90 overall it’s still takes skill to win bottom line..
Following we caught Coach Codes in the bathroom stall and here is what he had to say…
HD: For starters, Congrats on the Super Bowl appearance… How’s it feel to get this far after your PML debut last cycle?
CC: Appreciate it, especially coming from you whose been a big critic it’s good to finally hear “congratulations”. It feels great. This is my favorite team it feels good to have success with them. Some might, you know, underplay how hard it is to get here due to the team but looking at teams like the Packers, Rams, Chiefs, etc. They didn’t make it to where I’m at right now so if it’s so easy to do with a good team… they’d be here too.
HD: Your defense was probably the best defense this post season, How do you plan on stopping Lamar Jackson’s high-powered offense?
CC: I’m not sure if there is stopping Lamar but I have a great defense and pride myself on it. Tampa’s 2 previous rings came from defense so maybe the 3rd one will come from that as well. I believe I have a few athletic freaks myself, Devin White to name one. He might get the responsibility of shadowing Lamar.
HD: A lot of your offensive play calls in your 3 previous games are very similar, are you nervous about how easy scouting might’ve been for Coach Keraun?
CC: I mean kind of but not really. Coach Keraun is an extremely smart and intelligent coach, but I do believe CEO, Z, and Wimmy are very intelligent as well. They knew what was coming… everyone knows what’s coming and that’s Mr. Playoff Lenny. It’s not about knowing what’s coming, it’s about can u stop it.
HD: Tom Brady is in year 22 and in another familiar game for him, How confident are you in getting the job done as the “Underdog” to the Ravens?
CC: I’m very confident. We played in the regular season, and it went pretty well. Beating vets like Ceo, Z, and Wimmy was building my confidence throughout each round. It’s at an all-time high right now. With the dev week a lot of my worries have been taken away. One of those being inside stuff and the other is how to get pressure vs Stanley. Thank you madden! As far as being an underdog I’m here for it. Everyone thought Z was going to beat me and then Wimmy was going to beat me. Just another round of having to prove myself right.
HD: Are you Concerned about what people will think about this win because you have the Buccaneers?
CC: Not really. Like I previously mentioned a lot of good teams never make it to the bowl or win it. Since I’ve been here the Colts, Broncos, WFT, Jets are the winners. No chiefs, Bucs, ravens, packers, etc. I’m also confident that I could do this with other teams as well. I made it with that Colts team I BUILT (only 3 players from the OG Colts were on the team szn5). So, I’m confident that I can build a team and compete or get given a great team and compete. I think those that may be focused on excuses of why I won need to focus on reasons they aren’t winning.p
