SS Tycen Anderson sent to the Cowboys for a 5th and swap of 7ths
The Bengals aren’t exactly strong at the SS position but they felt that the 1st year rookie wasn’t ready to make the jump to starter and weren’t exactly to keen on waiting for his development. They decided that getting a 5th and swapping 7ths so they can pick earlier in the late round was a better move for the organization considering they wanted to completely revamp their defense and with more picks they have the potential to do that.
DE Trey Hendrickson sent to the Texans for a 3rd and 5th
People weren’t too surprised or shocked when they Bengals sent away their franchise defensive end to the Texans for two mid round picks. The Bengals went into the offseason with two things on their mind, shedding some cap from their team and gaining more picks for the draft so they can have cheaper contracts/restructure some positions on their team to how the new management would like it. With Trey Hendrickson being 28, making 13 mil a year and only playing 8 games last season due to consistent injuries it was pretty easy for this team to cut their losses and move on. He was a super talented player to this offense but if you can’t be available when you are making that kind of money this front office won’t be scared to send you packing. Especially when they have key contracts to pay for in the upcoming seasons.
CB Chidobe Awuzie sent to the Raiders for a 3rd and 5th
This trade sent a lot of Bengals fans in shock seeing their #1 corner get shipped out for only a 3rd and a 5th. A lot of people outside of the team thought that they could of atleast netted a 2nd or a couple 3rds. But what it came down to that no one was willing to pay a high price for an aging corner back who has 14.5 mil salary and is looking for even more money this upcoming season with his contract ending. The Bengals may be low at depth with the corner position but it seems like this front office has full trust in their young star corner Daxton Hill and are looking to rebuild that whole room with players around him.
