Week 1 GOTW Follow up…

pWE. ARE. BACK.
We followed up with the GOTW Coaches from week 1.. Lets Check-In

TITANS COACH BUBBA (CB)

HD – Malik had a nearly perfect QBR this week, what seemed to be the turn around this week from last year?

CB – As we look back on last season, we realize we put too much on our rookie QBs plate. This season we wanted to simply the game for him and put him in the best position to succeed. Although he didn’t play much, we didn’t ask him to do too much, get the ball into our playmaker’s hands, manage the game as best as possible, don’t dig ourselves into a hole.

HD – What did you see from the panthers that helped you dominate this game?

CB – Early on our defense stepped up and forced a couple turnovers, which really allowed us to play to our team strengths. Allowed the pass rushers to pin their ears back, allowed our talented DBs to make some plays. Offensively we could lean on the run and build a comfortable lead.

HD – What can we expect after this big week 1 victory?

CB – First and foremost we will celebrate this victory on the plane ride home. This locker room hasn’t experienced much success as of late and we need to motivate these guys. Next week we go right back to work, and we expect to pick up right where we left off. Vegas is a very talented team coming off a victory, we will need to come ready, and we will be.

PANTHERS COACH JAYTEE (CJ)

CC – Anthony Richardson had a lot of hype going into this game. I’m sure it’s not the debut he wanted to have, but what are some of the positive things you saw from him during this game?

CJ – He got a lot of reps and got to experience playing from behind down big after a rocky start.

CC – Staying on the topic of rookies… Brayden Willis had a great game. Definitely surprised a lot of people. I saw you didn’t mention him in the pre-game interview. Did that game earn himself a bigger role in the offense?

CJ – Brayden Willis and DJ Barker had success in short yardage situations during the preseason and in practice. Both will play a part in our offense as we continue to build.

CC – A game with only 1 sack (being a sack from safety Jeremy Chinn) is pretty unusual for the Panthers who are known for their great blitzes. Is that something you guys will focus on this upcoming week?

CJ – Tennessee was able to get the ball out quickly when they did need to pass. They ran a bubble RPO offense and that was the bulk of their passing attack aside from the occasional deep shot. We were able to get pressure and cause some INTs too.

EAGLES COACH WUMBOLOGIST (CW)

CC – I saw before the game my partner in crime HD asked you if you thought Hurts not playing in the preseason would affect the offense. You seemed pretty confident it wouldn’t. Do you think that had anything to do with his rough game or was it just one of those days?

CW – It was raining which effected the passing game. Also felt like everything that could go wrong went wrong. Really feel like a lot of it was out of our control.

CC – Definitely didn’t end the way you wanted it to. Is this a type of game you can watch some film and change some things or is this the type of game where you just throw the film in the trash and move on.

CW – We ran the ball well but could not provide anything through the air to offset the ground attack. The defense looked very impressive.

CC – On a more positive note…rookie Joey Porter Jr. had TWO interceptions in his debut game. Do you think this is just the start to an elite career for Mr. Porter?

CW – Joey had a great first game, obviously. Still some things to work on like getting burnt by Tyreek on a long TD but s*** like that is gonna happen against the fastest player in the NFL. Overall, very impressed

MIAMI DOLPHINS COACH QUE

HD – What cause the decision to go with Jimmy G over Tua?

CQ – The trajectory is very different with left-handed QBs… I’m just much more comfortable throwing right because that’s what I’ve done since I first touched the game. I did throw two picks which were completely preventable. Just sailing it to Hill when nothing was there instead of just throwing it away. I believe if we can just not make those dumb a** decisions, it doesn’t matter what QB we have, as long as their right-handed.

HD – What was the difference maker this game and what do you think cause your success?

CQ – The difference was just not forcing it as much as we did last season. We just let the game come to us and played some stout defense in the rain. Jalen did miss a couple of throws, but we were happy with him throwing. I smiled every time Henry didn’t touch the ball.

HD – Can we expect Jimmy G to be the starter for week 2?

CQ – Possibly. We’ve talked to a few teams about QBs, but if nothing goes through… I’m sure we’ll see Jimmy G next week. I was extremely happy with how he performed.
