Transcript: Panthers Head Coach Press Conference

Can you talk about the development of Anthony Richardson so far?

He’s got to get better and play better each and every week. We expect that. He expects that. There’s a lot of meat on the bone in all areas of his game, but that’s not a wild statement because he is a young guy.

What kind of player do you see when you look at Tom Brady?

Hopefully, this is the last time we face him. I was not thrilled to see that he was returning for another season. Looking forward to facing a Tampa Bay team without the GOAT at quarterback.

How much of a problem is Vita Vea on the defensive line?

He's definitely a player you have to game plan for and make sure you know where he is each and every play. Unfortunately, he's usually two feet away from the quarterback's face before and during almost every play. Vea is not only someone you have to worry about before each game, but during the off-season where you have to say "Ok, who can I get to block this guy" and plan accordingly. Thankfully he's not getting any younger and we feel we have got a potentially great foundation at the offensive line for the future, so it's only a matter of time before he's no longer a factor.

Did you scout Darnell Washington before the draft? If so, what stood out about him?

Absolutely. Darnell is a unique player. He's a good blocker who can also get down the field. We took a good look at him and Arik before the draft and it came down to Arik's versatility as a receiver and ability to lineup inside or outside.
