Transcript: Bengals Head Coach Press Conference

What were the keys to the team’s victory this week?

Keep the ball in our hands and control the clock as long as we can. We know this offense has the power to drive down the field whenever they want but we want to make sure that we are taking as much time off of the clock as we can. This Steelers offense is not good enough to drive down the field in limited time.

Can you talk about the development of Xavier Thomas so far?

Thomas has been a great prospect and we are pleased with the progress he's made so far. He's shown tremendous leaps since we first got him and with Nick Bosa being here to now mentor him we are positive that he's going to make an even bigger leap in upcoming seasons. The pressures are there he just has to learn how to finish. Once he can do that he will be a top edge rusher.

Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like T.J. Watt?

It's awful, there's not much you can do to gameplan against a player of that caliber. All you can really do is put multiple blockers on him and hope that can give you enough time to throw the ball or run through a hole.

What is the status of La'el Collins and when is he set to return?

La'el was out for a week because of a tough week of practice. We thought this week was the best week for him to take a rest and make sure that he can come back to full health next week.
