Can you talk about the development of Shemar Turner so far?
We are very, very excited to have Shemar as an addition to our roster. The struggles of our front 7 last season, particularly on the defensive line, were no secret. Shemar comes in with the ability to be an immediate impact pass rusher and run stuffer. All that we have to do is get him in the classroom to work on his awareness.
The defense is getting a lot of criticism lately for their level of play. Are you planning to make any changes?
We brought in a variety of linebacker talent in the offseason. The training camp battles will be great ones as we prepare for what is hopefully a much better season defensively than last season.
The majority of your team is under the age of 26. Is that a conscious effort to have such a young team?
Taking the role as the Seahawks head coach, I knew I had my work cut out for me. Going into Year 1, we were fresh off of Russell Wilson trade, with nothing but youth to show for it. It will be important to continue that youth movement as they continue to get experience. We believe in our young guys, and the vets we have around them provide much needed knowledge.
