Transcript: Eagles Head Coach Press Conference

How does the loss this week prepare you for the next game?

Well the fact that we lost isn't what creates preparation for the next game. Mistakes exist in wins and losses. We know we had some things we really liked about the Houston game, and some things that we didn't like. There's constant evaluation and learning in every game and practice. So we'll correct the mistakes and mental errors and come out ready for a battle with Carolina.

Can you summarize what it was like playing against the Cowboys last week?

I keep an even demeanor but there was definitely a little extra excitement being the first game of the season. Almost too much excitement. Guys made a lot of mistakes, players and staff included. And that's on me. The Cowboys are a good team but there's no excuse for how that game went. But there's nothing that's not correctable. I have full confidence in this group to do what's necessary to put us in striking distance for the divisional title.

Can you talk about the development of Drake Maye so far?

Lot of bumps in the road, but the kid always has a "next play" mentality and that's what I love about him. He's a true leader of men and I know he'll give his all every day and that's all you can ask for. The game will eventually slow down for him and watch out when that happens, Drake is a special special talent.

Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like Alvin Kamara?

Alvin is tough. He's one of those guys that can truly do it all from the running back position whether it's catching the ball, running in between the tackles, or even blitz pickup. You always have to account for where he is on the field.

How has Jason Kelce’s experience in the league helped the team so far?

We lean on Jason a lot. He's the guy that everyone looks up to on the field and off the field and his experience is invaluable to this organization.

What is the status of Lane Johnson and when is he set to return?

Lane is dealing with a couple of broken ribs, we'll talk with the medical staff but he's week to week at this moment and we'll share updates when we get them. We're not expecting him back this month.

What makes Alvin Kamara so good?

Again, he's one of those guys that can truly do it all. Dynamic talent.

What were some of the contributing factors to the loss this week?

I think that's a pretty obvious one. Turnovers turnovers turnovers. We had great momentum opening up the second half and once the fumble on the rollout happened, we completely lost focus. And it's not on Drake, he has to be better, but we all certainly have to be better in our execution and overall focus.
