Transcript: Colts Head Coach Press Conference

What were the keys to the team’s victory this week?

The Texans were who we thought they were. The first two weeks they put up inflated numbers but we didn't let that get to our heads and played the football we know how to play. We won the turnover battle 7-0 by playing smart and efficient offense and simple defense. Quinn Ewers struggled to throw left early in the game but overall still played very well for just his 3rd game. The offensive and defensive lines are the biggest strengths of our team and we'll keep playing to that.

Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like Alvin Kamara?

He's a very solid running back who excels at breaking tackles and every aspect of the receiving game. The Texans don't utilize him as much as you'd think a team that gave up the #2 overall pick for him would but he's still a heavy part of the game plan. We just kept an eye on him in the flats and on texas routes and trusted our run defense. Outside of a late 30 yard run, he didn't get much going on the ground and we even forced a fumble. In the pass game we held him to 14 yards on 6 catches.

How has Fletcher Cox’s experience in the league helped the team so far?

We paid Fletcher 14M for this year and many called us crazy, but he was the perfect fit and he's a great player at the end of his career, we had the money for a 1 year deal so we gave it to him. He has 3 sacks in 3 games, 1 in each, and has been terrific against the run as well. He's helping mentor Jalen Carter and Ruke Orhorhoro as well.

What is the status of Parris Campbell and when is he set to return?

Paris is recovering from his injury and will be back against the Jaguars or the Patriots at the latest. He looked very sharp and elusive in the preseason before his injury and we'll look to get him going when he's back. Alec Pierce stepped into the WR3 role very well and Simi Fehoko also played well in limited snaps as a fourth option, most notably blocking out wide.
