Overreactions & Reality Checks for PML

Coaching Carousel members need to be held accountable for more league involvement during the probationary period.
Overreaction or Reality: Reality
So we are in a content driven league, where most provide some sort of niche or content to the league whether it’s on a daily basis, weekly, or every here and there. I know during the intake process, we all sit and talk to JT about our potential ideas whether it is in the DM or in the application. So we have had some new additions this season, and I’m sure they pitched ideas. So where is the content? When I entered the league, I was the same exact way. I came in 3 or 4 years ago, took losses, didn’t do anything and was waiting for my pink slip to be honest and was ready to keep it moving. By not involving myself, I didn’t buy into the league and all it had to offer. The reality is, there was no fire under my a** to become involved, and that is a shame because that is when PML really shines, is when you involve yourself. So we hold new members to a probationary period with custom rulebooks and trading. Why not set some sort of standard for content and/or league involvement during this period as well? I think it would be a great way to welcome the new members and really hit the ground running with league involvement. Perhaps some sort of checklist of content that needs to be done by week 8 (1 collab article, 1 podcast, 1 solo content). I’m spitballing here, but it’s clear the new users have not fully invested themselves into the league and if we are moving off the ‘comp’ members, and more of a hybrid of content and skill, then this class of users was a total dud. By not having this requirement, we are failing the carousel system and allowing users to fall through the cracks early. Food for thought.

The NFC will ultimately come down to the Cowboys and Giants
Overreaction or Reality: Reality
Not calling that they will matchup in the conference round, because seeding may get in the way, but as it looks now I truly think one of these two will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Cook and Jefe are pretty much breezing through anything that comes their way at this point. The Cowboys have a +185 point differential while the Giants sit at a respectable +83. I think this is the year some of the heavy NFC hitters look a little vulnerable and the NFC East mates take advantage to make a Super Bowl run. Both teams are on 6 game winning streaks and sit at NYG 8-1 & DAL 7-1 on the season. If I had to pick who will go to the Super Bowl? Tough one, but we seen Cook already take Jefe down in overtime, and I think the whole Tyree Jackson thing hurt the Cowboys in a playoff game with Cook. I look forward to their week 10 matchup- somethings gotta give.

The NFC Playoff Teams are Set:
Overreaction or reality: Overreaction
I have seen this said a couple times in chat and I disagree with it. Right now there are 7 teams that are above .500, and some people think that those teams are set to go to the playoffs. We still have half a season of football left, and peoples schedules can swing. Looking at the Commanders schedule they sit at 4-4 with plenty of winnable games, along with chances to get some wins over the teams that are in front of them. Speaking for myself, my schedule takes a turn with 5 tough games in a row after my bye, and I’m sure I’m not the only one whose schedule looks like that. I’m not saying that these won’t be the seven teams, but I don’t feel like these teams are guaranteed to be in.

The AFC West Belongs to Matigy.
Overreaction or reality: Reality
The Raiders sit on top of the AFC West at 6-3, the Broncos are the next closest at 5-4. The next 3 games for the Raiders are tough, with the Bengals, Buccaneers, and Rams. After the bye the Raiders play the Broncos, where they have a chance to secure the tiebreaker over them, then a tough game against the Dolphins, followed by the Chiefs, Falcons, and Browns. If the Raiders win the game against the Broncos they likely have the division wrapped up.

Colts have been disappointing
Overreaction or reality: Reality
After going 12-5 with the #1 defense in PPG allowed & total yards in 2023 this team added a top TE& QB. They should’ve been primed for a leap but instead they have come out 5-4 with the 19th Defense in PPG allowed and 23rd in total yards allowed. It was kinda difficult to tell what’s going on but recently it’s been even more obvious. The Indianapolis Colts brass wants to make Ewers look as pretty as possible even if it means sacrificing what made them great a year ago. But sadly even with all that effort towards their franchise QB he still only looks like the 3rd best QB in his draft class and it’s been pretty evident why he fell so far in the draft. Hopefully the colts don’t forget how to turn it on when they need it the most.

Chargers are crumbling under the pressure
Overreaction or reality: Reality
After starting the season 3-1 and beating the divisional rival Raiders to send them to 1-3 things were looking bright for the chargers who have only been known as complete and utter losers, sure they could’ve been 4-0 if they didn’t drop a game to the falcons week 1 but things were great. And now fast forward to today the Las Vegas Raiders are 6-3 ripping off 5 straight and the Chargers have gone 1-3 to be 4-4. It’s disappointing to say the least, multiple other teams were high on the chargers saying they’ve been playing good football but I think everyone knew the crumbling would happen eventually. I mean it’s their signature to crumble at the sight of any type of pressure so they can go back to having “fun”. Overall the chargers still have 0 defense as they are dead last in total yards and avg giving up a whopping 230 yards on the ground per game! But their answer to that is to start a 180 pound DB who has 55 block shed in the slot? And continues to blame anyone but himself, and as long as that’s happening nothing will ever change.

Midway through the cycle the Afc is just as good as the nfc
Overreaction or Reality: Overreaction
At the beginning of the cycle when the teams were dropped it was pretty much unanimous that the Nfc was leaps and bounds better than the Afc. As the cycle has played himself out and we’ve had a few coaches leave and players added to the afc the gaps has closed a bit and there’s been some discussion that the Afc is better as a conference. I’m in the Afc so I could be biased but from what I’ve observed that’s far from the case. You could go from 1-3, 1-5 or 1-10, im taking the nfc, sure the afc has some good teams and nicely built rosters but when you combine the teams the user built and the skill i’ll take the nfc all day. Just for Example if you matched up 1-5 it would be: Cammy Vs Cook, Z Vs YoungMike, Mat Vs Sp, Que Vs Codes and Ke Vs Jefe and outside of Youngmike over z I have the Nfc winning every matchup because skill to skill they’re just better. The Afc has surprised me though because I thought the Nfc was better by a landslide back in August so they coming fasho.

The Colts will collapse and the Broncos/Chargers will sneak their way into the playoffs
Overreaction or reality: Reality
Jc has been here in the past but I haven’t really watch him until this cycle particularly this season, i’ve noticed how emotional he is as a gamer, not really in a bad way but you can see how serious he takes things and sometimes that can be his downfall. I feel like one game, one half or maybe even a series can mess him up for potential games down the road. From him having the dc after having 6 Td’s with Ewers and then following that up with a below average performance vs the Jets. I think he’s in his own head at the moment and with the crazy stretch of games he has coming up that’s a recipe for disaster, JC probably has the hardest remaining schedule of anybody in Pml so we shall see. I feel like the Chargers and Broncos get in by default, I do think Deebo is the better coach by far but Hd has the easier schedule so I feel like there’s a slim chance he sneaks in with the ( Browns, Pats, Panthers and Steelers coming up) that could have him at 8-4 with the Texans, Bucs, Niners, Broncos and Chiefs to finish the season so if Hd isn’t a d tier coach like we think he should be sitting at that 4 seed.

The AFC South is the best division in PML.
Overreaction or reality: Reality
It may be crazy to think, but statistically the AFC South could be the best division in PML right now. There are others with big name guys in it, but the AFC South guys have the most competitive division right now, with 3 teams over .500 all within one game of each other. The AFC South is on pace to possibly send 3 to the playoffs. The main thing making this division stand out is the fact that there are 3 teams in winning position right now. Whereas in other divisions it is a two team race.

CEO is washed.
Overreaction or reality: Overreaction
CEO has always been known as a great player who just comes up short in the playoffs from time to time. However, this season he is probably playing his worst football ever with less than 3 wins on the year. He went from having 14 wins a season with the Dallas Cowboys to now being way under .500 with the Vikings…who some think is another good run first roster he was gifted for the third straight year. Everyone needs to slow down. He may not be playing the best right now but that does not mean he fell off. Madden is a taxing game sometimes and this year’s Madden is nothing short of it. There are many animations, gameplay issues, and just a lot of things out of your control at times. I think like TBandit, he just may not be having fun with the game or just wants to relax. We are all competitors and want to win, but there is nothing wrong with just chilling out and playing for fun. I believe this is what CEO is doing until next Madden. I cannot blame him because it is difficult to be fully invested in a bad product for 5 franchise seasons. Let’s be real, 90% of the guys in our league would not be playing Madden if it weren’t for PML. For most users, including me, this is the only franchise we are in just simply because we only play PML games. So let’s slow down the roll on CEO talks…he just loading up and going on about his life. Leave him alone!
