Transcript: Chiefs Head Coach Press Conference

Can you talk about the development of Walter Nolen so far?

Walter Nolan came in NFL ready, so his floor is very high and his ceiling is too the moon. He's already establishing himself as a leader on this team. He is extremely mature for a young guy.

How has Travis Kelce’s experience in the league helped the team so far?

Tremendously, we have a lot of young talent that needs the leadership and veteran presence Kelce provides. Those young guys see his work ethic and relentless pursuit of being the best there is on and off the field. They get to see what it takes to be one of the best there is at your position, and seeing that path is motivating.

What is the status of Armoni Goodwin and when is he set to return?

Goodwin should be back next week. He got a little banged up in practice, but his recovery should be quick.

The offense in general is having a bit of a slow start, but it’s early and there’s still a lot of talent on that side of the ball. So is your thought process that it’ll work itself out and the points will come or do you feel like you need to change something, fix something?

As you all know, we had some big changes this off-season and because of that we have to spend some extra time getting everyone comfortable with the playbook. Additionally, as coaches we have implement new thing in the playbook that suit their skill set. I'm optimistic about improvements we have been making this off-season. Only time will tell if that translates to the regular season.

Who is your quarterback, and why?

Trevor Lawrence is going to be our guy. Hes getting some light reps this preseason to get comfortable with the players, but we want to keep him healthy and focused on the regular season. We can't stress enough how happy we are to have a young solid group of backups. M.J. Morris has been impressive this preseason. I really feel we have a group that is going to push each other to always be better.
