What were the keys to the team’s victory this week?
Who wanted to come into the game as focused and locked in as possible. It’s unusual that you start a season off with three straight division opponents but that’s where we are with this year schedule. So by dropping that first game against the Bears, this almost becomes a must win against the Lions. So that’s how we approach the game with a playoff atmosphere and week two. it was good to see Hendon Hooker make all the plays necessary. Both of his interceptions were kind of flukes, so we’re not going to hold that against him. We will continue to lean on our defense and as you can see after these first two weeks, they have really put us in a position to Win it games. It’s also great to see Devante Wyatt really step into that superstar roll and lead that front seven.
Can you talk about the development of Derrick Moore so far?
Man… We love D Moore! The rookie has really come in and solidify that edge position on the opposite side of Rashawn Gary. He was quiet week two against the lions in the stat sheet but the plays that he is able to make don’t always get shown on the stat sheet. We look for D Moore to develop and really show while he was our second round pick, which we had graded it with first round talent.
Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like Davante Adams?
There’s not much you can do to prepare for a wide receiver like Adams. And as you can see during the game we switched coverage we double teamed we triple teamed. We did all we can do to try to keep the ball out of his hands but yet it still made its way there. He’s a great player, but we’re just happy we were able to get the win even though we weren’t able to stop him on the field .
How do you rank the biggest changes to this team over the off-season by importance? What do you think were the team's best moves? Was there anything you wish you would have done that didn't get to do?
We were able to build depth this off-season. A lot of people forget at the end of season two we did not get a chance to sign any players due to Aaron Rodgers holding out and then retiring on us. So we came into season three with just our starting 22 with no real back ups. So as players went down throughout the season, our talent level coming off the bench just wasn’t up to par. Coming into season four after a full off-season of signing free agents, we feel great about our entire 53 man roster and I think it’s starting to show with our pace not ever dipping throughout a game, both offensively and defensively as we switch out players, and bring in play makers on both sides of the ball
The team has been very fortunate in terms of injuries so far this season. You currently have no one injured. Can you point to any specific thing you've done to keep the roster generally healthy to this point?
Again, having a full off-season to craft a 453 man roster is one of the reasons our players are not getting hurt. We believe when we see one of our guys getting winded, bringing in a back up off the bench in order for everyone to stay healthy and have fresh legs when they’re on the field. In season three we did not feel we were in a position to rotate guys. The way we have done so throughout these first two weeks of the season
