MASKED: Top 5 META Users in PML

What’s good PML. I’m back with another one of my best series of articles which are the MASKED ones. Here we have 4 anonymous users not including myself ranking their top 5 META users in PML. For a topic like this we also are keeping it suspenseful by being anonymous. If you want to get interviewed for the next spicy topic, hit my DM.

PERSON 1

1 Greeny

Greeny is a good guy and a part of the pml family but he’s definitely in the top 5 for Meta users and im pretty sure it unanimous. Playing greeny everybody knows what you’re going to get and it’s been like that for years. From the rollout corners, to the crossers, to the shot plays that glitch out the deep 3rd and most recently Vs Tbruh the slot fades out of tight or bunched formations that get behind the secondary no matter how far backed off you are. He also brings his safeties within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage every play which isn’t meta but I see ppl in mut and comp leagues do it because it stops the run while still doing enough get their depth to stop deep shots. Whatever the meta is best believe greeny will sprinkle that into his gameplan.

2 DK

Dk is a good user and I say that because I respect him. His gameplay is effective but he definitely relies on the meta, whatever works in the madden we’re playing he’s running it, from crossers to corners to this year in the man defense. Recently somebody found his 6-1 defense which isn’t meta but exactly not that s*** cheesy as h*** and while he denied knowing what it was he’s continued to run it so he’s telling you that he… yea. Dk will do anything to find an advantage and he could give af about how you feel about his cheese. He’s a h*** of a coach but he relies on abusing the meta at times which is kinda ok because in real life teams do whatever works until you prove you can stop it, so I guess you gotta respect it but most like me don’t.

3 Fallen

I’m almost certain fallen is on everybody’s list, it’s not as bad as you might think but he’s definitely one of the top meta users we have. Fallen gets critiqued for his repetitive gameplay but if you look closely he does what’s popular among the madden community. A few maddens ago it was the swerve running and dives that turned into stretches. This madden he’s fallen in love with the high ball that he throws on every seam/corner route he throws. He’s not as bad as others but best believe whatever is popular, he’s going to run.

4 Jefe

Madden 21 or last years Madden you could’ve made the argument that jefe was top 2 but he’s gradually removed himself from the convo while keeping himself in it. When you played jefe you knew the pa crossers were coming bout 15 times a game and whatever shot plays you saw in mut you’d see when you play him. Jefe has stopped running those so I give him credit but even this year you still see the occasional play action on and unnecessary down and distance with the crosser to the sideline or whatever shot play that occupies the deep 3rd safety. I honestly don’t have much to say cause I haven’t played him in a while but when I watched him play in the past and this year he definitely falls in the category of a meta guy but not as bad as the past.

5 Hypemike

Mike is the homie and he knows it but  I gotta throw him on this list. Is Mike a top 3 talented user? Yes, does he have top 3 stick skill? Yes but mike is one of the sweatiest users when he needs to be. He’s not big on the crossers but he knows all the meta passing plays and will hit you with them in a crucial time. Just how used to call Jt a blitz master or cheese blitzer… mike the same way, he dials up blitzes that always get home and whether you slide the line or ID the mike, them mfs still coming through and he had to find that from somewhere. Mike isn’t as big as the others guys on the meta but he definitely knows some things that work that can break the game or are unstoppable.

PERSON 2

1 DK

This shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise. The infamous 4-3 6-1 plus pinching the defensive line just about every single defensive play shoots him to the top of the list. When he had Michael Thomas with abilities last season, he was pretty much unstoppable with the ability to hot route to whatever he wanted on any given play. Even without Michael Thomas this year, his scheme is effective and guys get open regardless of who plays QB. You could expect multiple zigs/corners/smart routed ins on 3rd and long. Not to say that he’s not a great player (he has a super bowl, which a lot of people don’t and haven’t come close to), because he is, but the fact that a majority of his gameplan involves meta tactics is clear as day and a little disappointing due to his skill level.

2 Que

If Que had the work ethic he did in previous cycles, he wouldn’t even be on this list. I really don’t think he’s taken the time to figure out the best ways to utilize his team (even though he’s effective with what he does do, and Blake Corum is a homerun threat every time he touches the ball). The result is a not-so-surprising mix of streaks, corners, stretch runs, and O1 traps. While he mixes it up a lot more on the defensive end (with an incredibly built defense), what occurs offensively overshadows that tremendously.

3 Fallen

His offense hasn’t changed much from Madden 20 if we’re being honest. You can expect the typical stretches, PA crossers, and high balls to Claypool up the seam. I can anticipate the number of these going up even higher with Mahomes throwing the ball rather than the unfortunate T Law/KJ Jefferson/Zach Wilson trio he rolled out there the first 3 seasons. What he did with Keaton Mitchell last year was crazy, but he’s been effective with whichever running back he’s drafted (Javian Hawkins), so that’s not surprising either (a lot of carries, and the ability to turn an inside zone into an outside zone that he’s capable of taking 65 yards to the house). Defensively there’s not much to write about.

4 Greeny

Greeny and outside runs go hand in hand. Add Johnathan Taylor to the mix and a very well-built Falcons team (that was awful year 1) and you get what the Falcons offense is: a variety of stretches, play actions, extended rollouts (and sometimes a hike and haul). Sometimes you’ll get a Kyle Pitts jump ball or two. I also feel like his offense relies on big plays from time to time, making it tougher to sustain drives against the bend-but-don’t break Bucs defense as well as other opponents (plus Ridder is a**).  Defensively you can expect Cover 4 show 2 out of 3-4 formations, moving the safeties closer to the line of scrimmage, and alot of pressure from a solid pass rushing front led by Arnold E. Good luck throwing anything deep with cyborg FS Tyrique Stevenson back there.

5 Drama

This may come as a bit of a surprise. No matter how much he wants to tell us that he’s running his own unique offense, Drama will do whatever he has to in order to put together a running offense. Whether it’s the corner streak combo with Kamara on an angle route on 3rd down, or the jumpball passes to Gerald Everett, we can expect to see those any time he needs a first down. Defensively he’s a lot more creative, which is why he comes in at number 5. We’ve also seen him line guys up at ineligible positions (Kearse at Sub LB for a while) to gain an advantage. There may be cases for other users to fit in this spot as well. However, with the style of arrogance Drama plays with, he deserves to have his game under the microscope.

PERSON 3

1 Cammy

Just watch one of Cammys games. You are going to see him in Gun Tight for literally 3/4ths of the game. In Madden 23 Gun Tight and Bunch are the gold standard for META users. Cammy has went down this rabbit hole and has not come back out. Why should he though when he has found success.

2 Burn

Burn has been the same player for quite some time. Using tactics that were once able to take him all the way to the Super Bowl in a past cycle. The game has changed but yet he has not. His meta style is one that needs to evolve because at this point he is playing the wrong game.

3 Codes

Inside Zone and Jump Ball scheme. Codes offense is like watching paint dry. He does a good job at staying true to what he knows works. The most effective technique available to him is to do one of those two things. Throw in a zig route as well.

4 Que

Que is a coach who has no real spice to his game. He runs a base offense and find the plays that work for him regardless of the defense he sees. Que is a diehard meta user and anyone who things other wise will have to show me the variety in his game.

5 King Mike

Although King Mike runs different schemse on offense, if you really dig into his game its pretty simple and hasnt changed much. I think people dont think of him as a META user because he will throw out some different formations and sets. At his core though King Mike is very simple and fits the mold of a META user.

PERSON 4

1 DK

Probably the most egregious of meta users because the entire league has been put on notice and it still happens. The pinch technique with the defensive line is crazy.

2 Arod

Steelers will run just about anything that has been rumored to work on the internet. Especially when it comes to blitz packages.

3 Drama

You know it, he knows it, the world knows it, the streak corner combo is coming for you and your entire family every game.

4 Keraun

While a very skilled and strategic user, you can always rely on seeing the tight shotgun formations with down field vertical throws to tall pass catchers.

5 Jefe

I haven’t read the play calling statistics but I wouldn’t be surprised to see cover 4 called 87% of the time and cover 3 called 12% of the time. The other 1% is a TreVeyon Henderson counter. Yes it counts on defense somehow.
