Nef’s PML Power Rankings- Heading Into Week 7

What is this?

Nef’s Power Rankings is a Power Rankings that will be provided weekly for PML members to enjoy! It’s rankings that don’t necessarily go off popular opinion or past results. It’s a fresh new look into power rankings that completely takes the popularity contest and bias out of it!

What is our goal?

Our goal is to provide a better understanding on who is really performing the best within a specific season using nothing but stats!

Who is involved?

Nefarious- Data gathering and inputing weekly.

Z- Weekly summary on the biggest surprises week to week to provide some substance to the Power Rankings and graphic itself.

CB- Weekly graphic to add something pretty to look at!

What stats are involved? Also what matters most?

Our Power Rankings are based into multiple scores. First you have your Record Score which gives you a certain amount of points every week. Making wins and loses weigh heavily week to week. Then you have your Weekly Score which gathers multiple stats based on that week to give you an overall score and performance on a week to week basis. Next you have Streak which takes your recent winning or losing streak to also adjust your ranking week to week. Then you have Team Overall that plays a very small factor when deciding where teams fall weekly. Finally we have our Total Score which is a combination of average Weekly Score, Record Score, Streak and Team Overall.

All of these things matter and factor into the final result but some matter more than others. Based on formulas used in this spreadsheet i can tell you roughly what effects the rankings mostly week to week and what effects them the least.

(From most to least)

Record Score– This is simple and self explanatory. The more you win the higher your score is. Wins and loses both weigh evenly. Wins effect it in a positive manner and loses effect it in a negative manner. For ties both team get half of what a win would get them.

Weekly Score– Recent weekly scores matter the most after record score. Older weeks (combined in 2’s) will effect the Total Score a little less and less as the season goes on. Weekly Scores does have multiple factors in it itself so I’ll break it down in most important to least.

– Record Differential in a win
– Point Differential
– Record Differential in a loss
– Ranking Differential in a win/loss (based on previous weeks total rankings)
– Team Overall Differential in a win/loss (based on team overall going into that weeks game)
– Points For/Points Against (small amount positive points for high scoring teams, and small amount subtracted for bad defenses)

Streak- With every win streak or losing streak you’ll receive a small hit or bump to your Total Score. So even if you lose one after having a big win streak you won’t punished by it in your total score. But the longer the streak is the more effect it can have on your Total Score and ranking.

Team Overall– Team Overall should matter. Especially when building a team is half of the battle. Though it matters it will not have a significant effect on our Power Rankings.

Thats a quick summary of what goes into it week to week. Please DM me (Nefarious) if you have any other questions.

“Cracking The Code!”- Codes’ Storylines of The Week

Ravens Beat The Browns: The Browns finally got a worthy user and was heading into week 6 as one of the two only undefeated teams in PML (one of the wins being the ravens). A lot of people wrote off the Ravens and Bengals thinking there was a new ruler of the Kingdom. The Ravens were down 14 heading into the 4th, with their backs against the wall Ke was able to storm back and take the lead late in the 4th showing the Browns that it won’t be easy as they thought. This game will be huge when it’s late in the season just wait.

The Chargers Have Peaked: Many were surprised with HDs record/performance last season (10-7 record), but it left many disappointed because he kinda crumbled down the stretch losing games to the Patriots, Panthers, and Niners… but maybe the good season would spark a change in the Chargers culture. Fast forward to week 7 of the 2025 season and the Chargers are sitting at an average 3-3 right in the middle of some streaming controversy getting superstar QB Justin Herbert suspended… it gets even better the Chargers face 10 .500 or better opponents in his last 11 games. It might be safe to say we will not be seeing a repeat of the previous season.

Cook Has Found Offense: Cook may have won a super bowl, but we all know it wasn’t because of his offense/passing attack. In all previous seasons Cook has ranked 26th, 27th, and 28th in passing… 17th,20th, and 22nd in total yards. This season he is #1 in total yards and #1 in passing yards, and Daniel Jones is on track to win MVP. I personally believe the only thing that has changed is drafting 96 speed De’Zhaun Stribling who has 780 yards and 5 TDs on the season. We saw how Cooks passing attack improved last cycle once he got Quez Watkins and Anthony Schwartz, Cook is one of those guys who can use speed very effectively. The question is though… is this a good thing? He has already tripled the amount of losses he had last year, and he is floating around #2 & #3 in the division. I think Cook is at his best when he runs the ball and let’s that defense go to work. Danny Dimes may win MVP… but will he add another ring?

Codes’ Unknown Heroes of the Week

Kendrick Bourne (5 catches, 113 yards, 2 TDs): We are in year 2025… why is 30 year old Kendrick Bourne having a legacy game. His best season this cycle was with the Patriots putting up 260 yards and 3 TDs, he almost just matched that season performance… IN ONE GAME!

Ty Johnson (25 Rushes, 239 total yards, and 3 TDs): Ty Johnson just came out of nowhere… before this game Ty had 5 carries, 34 total yards, and 0 TDs. I think we need CB to drug test this man because this isn’t right.

Evan Stewart (9 catches, 168 yards, 2 TDs): I have never even heard of this guy and I consider myself a PML junkie. Evan was a 3rd round pick in the latest draft with nothing jumping off the page about him (92 speed is solid and he’s only 6 feet), but man did he just earn himself some more play time and maybe even a breakout game.

KingMikes’ Kitchen

Where does Arch Manning want to end up? He doesn’t have much of a choice. But some of the bottom teams of PML can are not in need of a quarterback. So the mystery clears up some. The bottom 5 in Nef’s power rankings consist of the Falcons, commanders, panthers, lions, and Steelers. Out of those five teams Arch would probably love to end up in the nations capital playing with the commanders. Realistically though there’s a chance he could end up in Atlanta or Detroit as well if the bottom five stays put. Let’s see how this plays out and who will get yeah, the next great Manning quarterback for the final 17 regular season games of PML’s

49ers will find gold and a playoff berth? Ant and his 49ers have yet to finish a season with more than seven wins. After the first 7 weeks he has already end amassed 4 wins. This may be the season where Ant not only finishes the season over .500 but there may just be a chance he can slip on into a wild card berth and participate in the playoffs before the cycle concludes.

Mason Garcia is legit! I don’t know if I can go as far as to say that Mason Garcia is what has elevated the Cowboys game more so then jefe has just found a player he is having fun with. Late in a cycle when the game of Madden loses its luster having a player/team you are having fun with is crucial to your success. His quarterback is not good, but his defense is stellar. by playing ball control offense and lock down the fence the cowboys have just enough of what’s needed to get wins. The Cowboys have yet to make the playoffs and it’s looking like this may be the season they enter the tournament. They may even contend for the top seed overall. When the games get tight, however, will Mason Garcia be the eventual downfall of this Cowboys team?

In The Booth With W**** The Kid

Dallas Cowboys (5-1): America’s team is back after a three year hiatus jefe has the Cowboys Rolling led by rookie quarterback Garcia . Even with there best offensive weapon out the Cowboys keep winning. They would be undefeated. If it wasn’t for the Vikings cheating they’re out of the fair game that didn’t involve the computer. The Cowboys will only go as far as Mason Garcia takes them. As the year progresses he will only get better and better watch out for the Dallas Cowboys to make some noise in season four.

Green Bay Packers (4-2): It’s come to my attention that we all should be watching out for the #9 Green Bay Packers to make a push to the top 5 . The NFC is wide open this year. The Giants and Rams won their Super Bowl , respectfully. They are going easy in season four. look for KingMike to make a big push to capture his second championship in PML history, he hasn’t been talking much but best believe he understands season four and five is a game of attrition and he has shown that he can cash in on the late Madden season
