Transcript: Patriots Head Coach Press Conference

Over your career, what makes a team better at not turning the ball over as the season goes along? What kind of things you need to emphasize? How much of it is coaching? How much of it is a mental part? Physical part?

Comfortability, over confident, lackluster, all that and more leads to turnovers. So you can say its 100% mental and not physical. We can also put part of it on coaching and play call. We have all the physical tools to protect the ball. We as a coaching staff need to make sure everyone is focused and ready to go. Each possession needs to be treated like its our last. We had an immense amount of turnovers last season and we look to correct it going into this season.

How valuable is the self-scouting process that you go through during the Bye Week? There's the physical piece, but also that component, as well.

Its very important after a quick preseason we have 75 players on this roster with some guys who are cemented to make the roster but we also have alot of players who are teetering on the fence. So scouting is going to be key. We gotta make sure we put our best team on the field week in and week out and it starts with effectively scouting ourselves and our players.

How do you see the competition level in the AFC East currently?

The AFC East has 4 great teams but after 4 seasons there has been one clear front runner. And our focus is changing that for this last season by any means necessary.
