Can you talk about the development of James Simon so far?
I’m very happy with what I’ve seen from bro. He has put up the arguably the best stats of any QB this preseason . He has me so comfortable in the event Lamar goes down . Can’t wait to watch him play vs the Steelers as well.
What can you attribute to having one of the top-scoring teams in the league to this point?
Just being able to strike up the band in every way running inside running outside . Option . Short middle deep . We take pride in touching every blade of grass .
How quickly can you tell if a young player is a football player if he thinks about it because it seems like at the Combine they’re all saying the right thing and it’s the job. How quickly does it take?
You know when you get in practice mode and your put him in with the ones . Then you know what he is about . That’s how i always tell if somebody got that dog in em
Are you seeing the speed of the game starting to slow down for some of the rookies?
Definitely zacariah branch out speedy WR i saw him beat a few number 1 corners in preseason . I didn’t know if he would produce day 1 but now i know he is gonna change the whole offense .
How do you see the competition level in the AFC North currently?
It’s actually every competitive . You already know the love i have for the bengals . It’s always a treat lacing them up vs him . Browns tough . Steelers are an easy win but at least you get to work on some stuff without a threat of losing .
Some would say your roster is one of the better teams in the league. Would you agree with that? Do you see any weaknesses in your team as you self-scout?
Yes i would agree i think my only weakness is probably not having a lot of speed in secondary . I get beat over top a lot .
