New York Giants Offensive Breakdown

The Premier Madden League’s new cycle is about to kick off. Coach Burn has been officially hired as the new head coach of the New York Giants. The Giants are bringing back Burn for another cycle after having him as their coach just a few cycles ago. Coach Burn had this to say about being hired as the new head coach, ” I am excited to be here with this team. The team has changed dramatically since I was head coach and we will be installing a new approach to the team.” I have seen the roster and I will be going over both the offensive and defensive depth charts. First we will go through the offense in this article and then the defense in another. We will go position by position and have a small breakdown of each player on the starting roster, starting with the quarterback.

* = Rookie

Quarterback: Daniel Jones 75 Overall

Daniel Jones was just given a huge 40+ million a year contract by the Giants. He will be the starter of this franchise for quite some time unless another cheaper and better option comes along the way. Jones is 26 with normal development. He doesn’t have a lot of potential to develop, so even with a great season, he could find himself being replaced as he replaced Eli Manning. Jones had his best season last year, however, he wasn’t blessed by the ratings committee. He is fast with 88 speed and 88 acceleration, however, he still has a noodle arm with 87 throw power. He is a usable quarterback, however, he won’t be throwing the deep bombs, and crossing routes that Coach Burn likes to run in his offense. The gameplan will be worked around what Jones can do as a quarterback.

Runningback: Saquon Barkley 93 Overall

Barkley is the best player on the team and one of the best players in the league. He will be the focal point of the offense. Coach Burn is no stranger to Barkley, however, the way he used him in the running game in years past did him a great disservice. The game plan will be focused around Barkley and his ability to make plays in space. His abilities aren’t the greatest, with LeapFrog and Energizer, however, his final ability in Jukebox will provide some easy 1-1 wins for him. He will need to be re-signed next season and you can count on him not only being re-signed for another year, but for the cycle entirely.

Wide Receiver:

Darious Slayton 77 Overall – The Giants have a lot of number two receivers on the roster, however, Slayton is penciled in as their top receiver in the depth chart. Slayton is 6 ‘1, has 94 speed, 92 acceleration and 92 jumping. He has all of the physical gifts in order to lead this group of receivers and will be given the chance to do so.

Parris Campbell 77 Overall – Campbell was signed to a one year contract in order to provide the Giants with a deep threat player. He is 6 feet, with 93 speed, 92 acceleration, and 89 jumping. Campbell is penciled in as the number two receiver, however, could jump up to number one depending on how his season plays out. He is a little slower and shorter than Slayton, however, he has a better catching ability. If he shows consistency and Slayton has a case of the drops, he will find himself as the number one receiver on the offense.

*Jalin Hyatt 70 Overall – The rookie speedster has found his way in the slot of this offense. He is a raw player, however, he is one of the fastest players on the roster. He is 6 feet, has 94 speed, 95 acceleration, and 90 jumping. He comes in as the worst overall rated wide receiver on the roster, however, he is far from that. He will look to dominate defenses from the slot and work his way up the depth chart, with his eyes set on one day not only being the best receiver on this roster, but the best receiver in the league.

Wan’Dale Robinson 74 Overall – Robinson was drafted last season by the previous regime, however, he seems to be the odd man out at the moment. He is a small, quick type of player who would fit in the slot, however, he isn’t good enough to beat out Hyatt. Looking at the future of the roster, he and Hyatt will one day reign supreme, however, for now, his only shot at playing is on certain plays or if a player gets hurt. Let’s hope no one gets hurt though.

Tight End: Darren Waller 86 Overall

The Giants traded a third round pick in order to get the often injured tight end Waller. Waller is a special player who can take over the game, however, he was traded due to the fact that he cant stay on the field. The Giants are betting on him to not only stay on the field, but to be a huge part of their offense. Coach Burn likes to include running backs and tight ends into the passing game, so we expect a huge dose of Barkely and Waller this season. We expect Waller to be one of the best in the league come season’s end.

Offensive Line:
LT – Andrew Thomas 92 Overall – The Giants offensive line is one of the worst in the league, however, they are anchored by one of the best tackles in the game. Thomas had a bad rookie season, however, last season he dominated in his position and will look to lead this rag tag bunch of players in order to protect Daniel Jones.

LG – Joshua Ezeudu 68 Overall – He is the youngest and weakest member of the offensive line. He will need a lot of work in order to maintain his starting spot. The Giants will be looking into free agency or a trade to sure up this spot on their line.

*C – John Michael Schmitz 71 Overall – He was the best center in this past draft and he will look to anchor the line for years to come. He isn’t the strongest guy in the league, however, he is a smart guy who comes out of the box with decent attributes. With some work, he will turn out to be a player who is here the entire cycle.

RG – Mark Glowinski 74 – Glowinski is a stop gap at this point of his career. He is the oldest member on the offensive line and will only be with the Giants for one season. He isn’t the greatest player in the league, but on this line, he is one of their best players.

RT – Evan Neal 73 overall – Neal was taken at the top of the draft last year and was expected to make a huge impact on this team. There was talk that he and Thomas could be one of the best pair of tackles in the league. This was all shot down after the terrible season Neal experienced last season. There is a lot of room for improvement, so Coach Burn and company will look to improve his game dramatically.

That was a short look at the starting offense for the season. This could change depending on any trades or free agency pickups, but we don’t really expect it to. Next up, we will be back with the Giants starting defense.
