PML Pick Ems’ is going to be a weekly segment featuring Greeny, Arod, Cammy, Burn, and myself where we predict the winners for every PML game. We will also have excerpts each week from each of us, but these excerpts will feature different topics each week. This week we are focusing on each matchup and discussing around the league in the PML.
Through 32 games of PML football, Burn is leading the pack with a 23-9 record for pick ems’. As a group there were some matchups where we all believed one team was going to take the victory but were blindsided when the opposing coach pulled off the upset. Once again, we slept on Vet and his Washington Commanders, no one had him winning against DK despite pulling off a victory against Que in week 1, so keep up the great work Vet! The Dolphins pulled off a would fake field goal to take the lead over the New England Patriots and Miami would go to pull off the upset of which none of us predicted, so hats off to them! Congratulations to JT and his family as they welcome a baby in the world and just before that he took the fight to the Saints and pulled out an impressive win over New Orleans. Week 2 provided us with some guarantees, some upsets, and a lot of Drama, so who knows what week 3 in PML will have in store.
Week 3 Matchups –
Greeny –
San Francisco 35 New York 24:
San Fran lost a heart breaker to Cookie and the Rams in week two, but they looked good throughout the game. We are getting what we assumed with CEO heavy dose of run game and solid defense. The giants squeaked out a W vs the Cards in week two but were down late before the disconnect. Through two weeks the Giants offense has not put up many points and that I think is the deciding factor this week.
Indianapolis 21 Baltimore 17:
The Colts are coming off a goose egg and Ravens are coming off a loss to Goose. My heart wants to go Ravens here, but I have to think after getting blanked the Colts come out with everything they got. Low scoring ugly game and I think ARich comes away with the W.
Cleveland 31 Tennessee 27:
The Titans are coming off a big loss to a solid Chargers squad, but I don’t know if the Browns pass rush is any easier for them this week. Mali has that pass rush humming and it may be too much for whichever qb the titans roll out there. This is a must watch game imo from the “smash is cheese” game from two cycles ago.
Detroit 45 Atlanta 42:
This was extremely hard game to choose. Nef came off a double-digit loss to Hype Mike but played a solid game. Lions are 1-1 beating Chiefs week 1 and losing week 2. These two might have a “spam off” with them both feeding their young rbs like crazy. They played often last year as division mates and had some heart-breaking endings. I think we see a similar outcome here with Fallen pulling off a last second drive for the W.
Burn –
Green Bay 31 New Orleans 13:
One team is coming off a great win and the other a disappointing loss. The Packers are on a roll and looking great for a team that just lost a superstar quarterback. Love has come in and performed great. He was the question mark for the Packers team going into the season and the fact that he is playing great mixed in with the fantastic defense that they have is bad news for the Saints. The Saints are coming off a terrible loss to a division opponent and are sending their best offensive lineman away in a trade in week 3. Rumors are they are going to sit Lattimore and come out with their younger corners, after the trade committee denied the Lattimore trade. These rumors are encouraging for a winning football team. I believe the Packers will win this by a good margin due to their fantastic defensive line going against a not-so-great offensive line of the Saints. That mixed in with the Saints coach handicapping their defense just makes this prediction make more sense. Packers win 31-13
Houston 30 Jacksonville 20:
The Texans are rolling! That is not something that most would have thought going into the season. We knew that Coack Ke would compete but to be one of the undefeated teams remaining with this roster is impressive.
The Jaguars are not who we thought they would be. When the team selection was announced most thought that the Jaguars would win this division easily. Well not only are they winning the division now, but they also don’t even have a win. This was once thought to be a marquee game for division supreme but with the Jaguars playing as badly as they are, it may be another blow out win for the Texans. I think that the Jaguars will get back on track, just not in this game as the Texans win 30-20.
Denver 34 Miami 31:
Man, the Broncos really let everyone in sportsbook and knockout down in week 2. Not only were they favored so highly, but they were also one of the best coaches last cycle going against one of the worst coaches last cycle. Everyone thought that the Broncos would win easily but this was not the case.
After a week one loss, the Dolphins win a close game against a rival and get their first win of the season. In doing so, the entire AFC East is tied for the division lead. The Dolphins will need to do more like the week 2 game than the week 1 game going forward to keep up with the division. After getting beat last week, no way did the Broncos not come out with their A game and get a win here. I believe it will be a close game as the Dolphins are a dangerous team to play but with last week’s disaster, the Broncos have revenge on their mind. Broncos win 34-31.
AROD –
Seattle 41 Carolina 13:
Apparently, everyone believes JT will be playing with a newborn in his arms holding a bottle if formula to Lil’ JT with his chin all while trying to score touchdowns with Chuba Hubbard. No, let me tell you that isn’t a narrative. However, even playing with two hands I believe the Seahawks win big here as Kenny Walker III gets it done on the ground giving Geno Smith handoff duties for a better part of the game. A very impressive win last week by the Panthers as they took down the Saints. However, I just don’t see it happening back-to-back weeks. Seahawks roll.
Dallas 27 Arizona 24:
The Cabin 1420 Bowl puts Drama and the Cowboys on a potential 3-0 start as they take on Que and the 0-2 Arizona Cardinals. There are rumors within the Cardinals organization that newly signed Carson Wentz will get the start under center this week. Will it help? I mean anything would be better than Clayton Tune. Dak Prescott is playing lights out with a 136.9 qb rating and a 6td/0int ratio. Although the users are familiar with each other, I don’t think Que has the roster to matchup with Drama this season. The familiarity will keep it closer than it should be, but Cowboys will improve to 3-0.
Kansas City 21 Chicago 17:
As of this writeup, The Bears haven’t played their week 2 game yet so the sample size on the Bears is a bit smaller. Jefe is still figuring things out with a very low-end roster, taking on one of the more skilled users with a top 5 team. It will be very difficult to defend Pat Mahomes with the defensive personnel the Bears are putting on the field. I do think it will be close based on the playing style of both users, but the Chiefs will come out on top and continue to kickstart their season after dropping the opener.
Cammy –
New York Jets 34 New England 24:
I think we saw last week that team difference can matter against spdot and these patriots. The dolphins were able to achieve victory last week with that god squad offense and this week I can see New England also having a tough time against this top tier New York offense. Rodgers is a different beast than tua and I can see him having a lot more success against the Patriots.
Las Angeles Chargers 41 Minnesota 28:
Wimmy is a very impressive coach but he’s yet to resolve his turnover troubles with captain Kirk. Codes is a very good defensive coach and knows how to create opportunities for turnovers, especially against a user he knows very well. This is definitely going to be an exciting high scoring game, but I think with Kirk inability to keep the ball safe sometimes and Justin Herbert having the ability to fire a ball wherever he wants it it’s going to be very tough for this Vikings team to contain the Chargers.
Washinton 31 Buffalo 21:
MY MAN VET is on the uprise, and I think he continues his crazy start of the season and ends up going 3-0. That Commanders defensive line is nothing to play with and Vet is doing something he refused to do in previous cycles and that’s keep the ball safe when he’s throwing it.. With his ability to keep the ball safe and slowly make his way up the field controlling time of possession I think it’ll be hard for Allen in the Bills to come out of this with a victory.
Fallen –
Las Vegas 24 Pittsburgh 10:
This is the game where someone must win and heading into the season, I don’t think anyone could have predicted that KingMike and his Raiders would be 0-2 heading into week 3, but this is the week that he can right the ship. The Raiders and the Steelers head into this game with a -2 turnover differential on average, but I think we’re going to see Kenny Pickett running for his life against Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones. Jimmy Garoppolo is going to have his first turnover free game and he is going to lead Las Vegas to its first win of the season.. Sorry Curt, there’s always next week.
Tampa Bay 28 Philly 14:
HD HD HD, you must get it together. You have one of the best teams in the league, they are perfectly balanced and are in the highest percentile in superstar players but unfortunately, the Buccaneers are coming off of a brutal lost and Cammy isn’t going to lose twice in a row. Baker Mayfield is going to have his best game of the season and he’s going to show the league why he was drafted number one overall.
Los Angeles 32 Cincinnati 10:
Goose is coming off an impressive victory over the Ravens, a game that most projected him to lose, but as we’ve seen this season, the AFC North is a no holds bar match, and anyone can win against each other within the division. Unfortunately for Goose, this just isn’t his week. Despite having Cam Akers on the block, he has 5 touchdowns in two games and is one of the league’s top performers on the ground this season. You must think the Rams would re-consider trading him if he can continue this performance week in and week out. Nonetheless, I feel a blowout victory for the Rams this week.
