Codes Corner
Vet for real?: I know vet beat Que last week, but at the end of the day it’s the trash Cardinals. The Broncos are better and I think everyone can agree DK is a better user than Que. Heading into week 2 I thought Vet really had close to no chance to beat DK and the whole league wrote him off… VET DIDNT WRITE BACK THO. He came out there and beat the SB champ DK in Denver. You know it’s only been 2 weeks, but vet is playing some really good football. He’s thrown 0 INTs with Howell and has completed 80% of his passes, if he can continue this style of play he can battle for the division. I’m glad Vet realized that defense is good enough to win him games, just don’t give the other team free points (turnovers). Vet is facing a HOT Buffalo team week 3, it’ll put his defense to the test. Prove us wrong Vet.
Last Cycle Not a Fluke?: I’m a huge fan of tbruh, I thought he was really going to win a SB last cycle, at the very least have a SB appearance. Not only did neither of those things happen, I don’t think he even had a playoff win… and not only that but he ruined josh allens career. Heading into this cycle, lots of us thought Tbandit was going to have comeback of the cycle because he got his favorite team. So far, he has a loss to CB who was ranked as one of the bottom users last cycle with a worse team than the Jags, and then he played Matigy which isn’t that bad of a loss… but he got blown out and embarrassed. We talk about Arod throwing picks with Lamar, but the “best passer in the league” has a 1-7 TD-INT ratio with TLaw. He blames it on madden, but nah jhit you just make bad reads and get baited. You can’t critique tbruh play without getting called a discord boy or “you don’t know football”, I think it may be a coping mechanism but I’m no psychologist. It’s all love though and tbruh hopefully knows that, at the end of the day he’s one of my favorites in the league and he’s a cool guy. Just wanna see my boy win.
What’s going on in Zeattle?: Z is a top user in the league and his season 1 run with Seattle last cycle was impressive. I’m not one to jump the gun yet, but what’s going on? With a better squad then he started with last cycle, he lost to a depleted Rams roster and almost choked a lead to fallen. I’m not saying Z fell off, and he might bounce back and win 10 straight and I wouldn’t be surprised. It is just a bit concerning because last cycle he was dominating with seattle even in season 1.
Catching Z’s
Hail to the Commanders: In a development that I don’t believe anyone saw coming, Coach Vet and the Washington Commanders are sitting at 2-0 after two wins over two tough coaches in DK and Que. While the stats won’t wow you, Vet has been playing very smart football. Sam Howell has only thrown for 342 yards and 2 touchdowns, but boasts a QBR of 128.2, meaning he’s making good decisions with the football and allowing his defense, the strength of Washington, to stand out. I won’t get too far into the details as it is still early in the season. You can count on Vet getting a dedicated post if he is able to defeat the prolific Buffalo Bills this upcoming week.
Rams March to 2-0 On the Back of Cam Akers: CEO kicked a field goal late in the fourth quarter to tie the game 29-29. With 19 seconds left, it appeared we were heading to overtime in this week 2 divisional matchup. Cam Akers, however, had other plans. On 2nd and 10 from his own 25, Cam took a Power O 75 yards to the crib, leaving the niners defense, coaching staff, and fanbase in shock. This run added to an already excellent day from Cam Akers, as he finished the day with a staggering 15 carries for 220 yards and three touchdowns. The niners will look to bounce back next week against Burn and the New York Giants while Cook will host Goose and the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.
Cowboys Steamroll New York Jets, move to 2-0: There are many positives for the Cowboys and Coach Drama to take away from this game. Perhaps the most important, the play of quarterback Dak Prescott in what will prove to be a make-or-break year for the veteran signal caller, he had an excellent outing against a tough Jets defense, completing 15 of his 23 passes for 205 yards and 4 touchdowns. Tony Pollard also had a great day, carrying the football 14 times for 101 yards. Dallas’ defense was also strong, with Micah Parsons and Leighton Vander-Esch racking up 2 sacks apiece. The Cowboys will travel to Arizona for a matchup with the 0-2 Arizona Cardinals while the New York Jets will look to rebound against a familiar face, the 1-1 New England Patriots.
Terron Armstead Does It All As The Dolphins Squeak by the Patriots in a Thriller: There are many potential options for play of the week. However, on 4th and 5, down 7 points in the 4th quarter, the Dolphins drew up a play no one expected: a rollout bomb to Terron Armstead in the back of the end zone. Armstead looked like prime Plexico Burress hauling a pass in over his shoulders. With teams keying in on the potential fakes in the future, the Dolphins will have be confident throwing drags and streaks to Tyreek Hill (watch Deebo’s stream lol) if they hope to beat Broncos and DK. The Patriots have a familiar matchup with the New York Jets and Greeny
Texans (2-0): Kingke is showing off with his Texans after humiliating his divisional foe this week and securing a shutout victory. 30th in passing but 2nd in rushing, I think this statline is misleading because the Texans have gotten big leads against their opponents the first two weeks and have been forced to run the ball to kill the clock, but an impressive start all around for Houston.
Chargers (2-0): Codes has an efficient offensive approach and a bend but don’t break defensive approach, but his defense has forced turnovers when they needed big stops despite giving up a lot of yards, but these high scoring affairs have positioned the Chargers atop as the league’s highest scoring team over two weeks.
Packers (2-0): The Packers scared me a bit in their game against the Falcons. It was too close for comfort in the first half, but they eventually pulled away in the second half and took the victory. Jordan Love through 2 games: 154qb rating, 5TD, 0INT, and he’s only thrown 11 incompletions. HypeMike’s had a man crush on Love for 2 cycles, now I see why.
Vikings (2-0): A team and user that everyone sleeps on, Wimmy and his Vikings. Somehow he’s still flying under the radar, but a week 3 win against Codes and the Chargers would catapult them into NFC champion discussion. Ty Chandler is that man!
Cowboys (2-0): The Cowboys are not getting the credit they deserve. After two solid victories, the league is not sold yet. What will it finally take for them to earn the credit they deserve? I already know it won’t be a week 3 win in Arizona. The true test will come week 4 when New England comes to Dallas.
Commanders (2-0): PML’s Cinderella story has Vet riding high at 2-0 to start the season. A huge test this week that should put some of the naysayers to bed if he can come out with the victory against the Buffalo Bills. Sam Howell is cementing himself as a true game manager and the Commanders are dictating the flow of the game. Big for Washington!
Rams (2-0): The schedule gods were kind to the NFC West. Very soft schedule on deck could put Cookie and the Rams in the thick of things for an NFC crown.
Browns (2-0): “The King in the North,” shoutout to all of you Game of Thrones fans, but Mali is getting it done after beating up on the Bengals and the Steelers. Mali has always been the favourite to win this division and he isn’t disappointing. He has a real shot to go 4-0 with games against the Titans and the Ravens coming up on the schedule.
Patriots (1-1): SpDot fell victim to the old fake field goal bait and switch. Having a backup QB throw a touchdown to an offensive linemen is just bad luck, especially when you had the game in hand. Although, the Patriots kept this game close, and they weren’t favored to win the AFC East prior to the season, but expect them to stay in running all season long.
Broncos (1-1): Let Russ cook?.. More like burn the kitchen down. In his first start, Russell Wilson completed just 47% of his passes and threw 3 interceptions. He was outplayed by Sam Howell this week, much like what happened week 2 in the NFL. DK has the fight and the tenacity to bounce back, but I don’t think Russell Wilson is going to be the answer at QB for him, I expect a QB signing once we advance to week 3.
Seahawks (1-1): Z has a very very very soft upcoming schedule. Could be 7-1 before we know it. Kenny Walker is about to feast!
Saints (1-1): Come on JC, don’t shoot yourself in the foot. Ya gotta have Lattimore in the lineup until his ‘trade demands’ are met. Saints drop a very winnable game to the Panthers and fall to .500. Lets see if Lattimore reenters the lineup before a potential deal takes place. One of the bigger stories to start the cycle.
Lions (1-1): Fallen and the Lions were simply outclassed by Z and the Seahawks. I still think the Lions make a decent run this season at a wildcard berth. Jahmyr Gibbs looks like an early rookie of the year candidate and should develop into a superstar threat in no time.
Falcons (1-1): Nef looked great for the first half of his game against GB. Was very impressed. However, he is still lobbying to win over my approval and I just don’t have it yet. I will say this, I think this Falcons team out the gate is well put together for Nef’s playing style and seeing what he is able to do with them so far, he may overachieve on the expectations I set for him before the cycle.
Bills (1-1): You can’t win the PML invitational and go 0-2, right? Well Beast took care of business and put up 42 points against a former PML Super Bowl champion. Josh Allen completed 80% of his passes and unlike last cycle, I don’t think we’re going to see Allen lose any of his abilities this cycle.
49ers (1-1): Welp, all my talk of the 49ers winning the division have taken a little hit as they dropped to the Rams this week. The show must go on for Purdy and company as they host the Giants week 3 and get back on track to the Super Bowl!
Bengals (1-1): Goose is just three points away from being 2-0 and the leader of the AFC North. I think a lot of analysts have given up on this division, especially when going up against anyone outside of their division. They have their hands full against the Rams this week, but wouldn’t it be a shocker if Cincinnati pulled off the upset?
Dolphins (1-1): It’s a Miami miracle. You have to hand it to the coaching staff of the Dolphins, I mean to have the girth to call a fake field goal, man what a risky play. Miami was in shambles last week, but they’re getting their footing and the fastest offense in the league is seeing where they stand even when matched up against one of the fastest defenses in the league.
Chiefs (1-1): You just can’t keep the former Superbowl champions down and they bounced back this week against the Jaguars. No one really gave Jacksonville a shot this week, but Patrick Mahomes showed that his performance against Detroit was a fluke.
Jets (1-1): Poor Greeny and poor Aaron Rogers. This wasn’t the outing that we were expecting, in fact, Aaron Rodgers was running for his life against the Cowboys. He was sacked five times and hurried on countless other plays, but bringing in Ryan Ramczyk was supposed to shore up the line.. Maybe we’re seeing some growing pains.
Panthers (1-1): I wont lie, I didn’t see a week 2 win over Jc and the Saints on the PML script. Word on the street is Chuba Hubbard is the long-term answer at RB for the Panthers this cycle. Long-term meaning, you’ll be developed into a solid superstar, but you will sit at #4 on the Panthers official depth chart by season 4.
Colts (1-1): CB is sort of an enigma. He was an underdog against the Jaguars, but pulled out a close win in week 1 only to get shutout by the Texans in week 2. Like c’mon man, you couldn’t muster up any points, like at all? However, the ship can be righted since they’re taking on an 0-2 team in the Baltimore Ravens this week.
Giants (1-1): I don’t know what happened week 2 with Burn and Que, but all I know is that Burn walked out the dustup with his hand raised. So the Giants enter week 3 sitting at .500 with Daniel Jones throwing a solid football. Is Jones the long-term answer for the cycle? This season could be the test run to decide that.
Bears (0-1): The Bears hold the Panthers draft pick this season and are sitting pretty for a nice off-season that should see the franchise turned around to start next season. The true question is, what direction do the Bears go into this year? Are they truly competing this year and trying to take a division from HypeMike, Fallen, and Wimmy? Or are they evaluating talent and looking forward to the draft?
Buccaneers (0-1): Rachaad White needs the ball. His 10 carry allowance week one just wasn’t it. We are still awaiting the results of their week 2 matchup against the Bears, but looking ahead they have HD and the Eagles. Should be an exciting one to say the least. Lots of aging veterans on this team, so the time is now for Cammy as he is well aware. Must win game week 3?
Cardinals (0-2): Is it Carson Wentz time in Arizona?! I’m the biggest advocate of the move after an 0-2 start. Lets see it happen!
Raiders (0-2): KingMike being 0-2 and under the gun is a real surprise to me. I know Jimmy Garropolo isn’t the ideal quarterback to have under center, but the Raiders have talent scattered across the team. The defense is struggling big time in Las Vegas as they are in the bottom three for most points given up, most yards given up, and most passing yards given up. They have to lean on their pass rush if the defensive backs are having a hard time covering their opponents offensive weapons.
Jaguars (0-2): Tbandit was pretty sure of himself and his Jaguars, but 0-2 really isn’t a good look. Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville offense is struggling to find a rhythm and they rank in the bottom half of the league in all offensive categories. This is extremely surprising considering Jacksonville spent a lot of money in the off-season adding talented players to their roster. Lawrence has to find a way to get the ball to Evan Engram and Calvin Ridley more often.
Steelers (0-2): Poor Curt. Kenny Pickett already has 6 interceptions this cycle and his noodle arm really can’t be the answer for Pittsburgh. Najee Harris only has 18 carries in two games, but a word of advice for the Steelers, feed Harris the ball. He has to be the bell cow in order for this team to succeed.
Eagles (0-2): Eagles user is struggling with a difficult schedule to start the season. The roster should have helped offset that but maybe Eagles user isn’t what he thinks he is? Who knows. Maybe Eagles user should worry more about his gameplay instead of being PMLs version of Paul Blart mall cop and patrolling nonsense that doesn’t matter. Nevertheless, they have a winnable game on deck week 3 against the Buccaneers that should give us a better insight of the identity of the Philadelphia Eagles this cycle.
Ravens (0-2): Arod.. you’re better than this. The Ravens are a very talented team and you have one of the most dynamic Madden players in Lamar Jackson in what most in the PML would call the easiest division. You have to right the ship immediately and run the ball with Lamar.. 10 rushes in two games isn’t what Lamar does, he’s a scrambler.. So let him scramble and let that impressive speed do all the work for you.
Titans (0-2): Will Levis or Malik Willis? Right now we just don’t know. Both quarterbacks have gotten playing time and both quarterbacks have looked a mess. I think you have to commit to Levis if you’re Dlloyd, he’s going to be the future of the team, so let him put the team on his back.
