We are in Week 10 of the Premier Madden League and it is a little over the halfway point in the season. I am going to take a look at the top and bottom of each division and give my thoughts on their seasons so far. In this article I will go over the AFC in this article.
AFC North:
Cleveland Browns (6-3): The Browns are a win now team. They have the worst salary cap situation in the league and will not be able to sign anyone this offseason. They will need to acquire picks and use practice squad players just to be able to field their roster however, none of that matters at the moment. They are using every advantage that they have and winning games in a division that some said would have a negative record at the end of the season. As long as they can play smart, the Browns will win the division. They have some competition from the Steelers but I don’t trust Pickett to go on a run given their schedule.
Baltimore Ravens (2–8): Lamar Jackson at 98 speed should be dominating the league and leading the Ravens to the promised land. Jackson is one of the best and fastest players in the league and he is playing the same as a quarterback with 71 speed and 87 thp. Jackson is leading the worst ranked passing offense which is crazy to think about considering his option to run the ball makes the defense have to watch him on every play. Jackson is on pace to lose his abilities and the Ravens are on pace for the number one overall pick.
AFC West:
Kansas City Chiefs (7-2): After losing in week 1, Mahomes and the Chiefs have been playing great football. They have one of the best rosters in the league, mixed with a head coach who won the last superbowl in the Premier Madden League. This combination of head coach and team has made for a great pair up. The Chiefs are looking like the team to beat in the AFC especially after beating their division rival Chargers. It will be the Chargers and Chiefs fighting neck and neck for this division but with a victory already over the Chargers, I believe the Chiefs will have the number one spot at seasons end
Denver Broncos (1-7): The Broncos traded away their first three round picks in win now moves and it’s not working out for them. Lance, and Lattimore are having no impact for them and aren’t helping them win. At this rate, the Saints could possibly win the superbowl and have the number one pick in the draft on the same team. Imagine letting the superbowl winner get a generational quarterback that you should have had. That would be the ultimate franchise morale killer.
AFC South:
Houston Texans (7-2): The Texans are the shock of the league this season. They had a bottom five roster and have turned them into one of the best records in the league. They probably have the AFC South locked up by midseason and could coast into the playoffs. They have the number one defense in points given up, yards given up, and passing yards given up. This defense is legit and it’s going to be scary to see what they can do when they get better players on the roster.
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-6): The Jaguars are puzzling. How is a team that has great offensive weapons, have one of the worst offenses in the league? Lawrence is not playing good football and on a watch to see if he loses his abilities at the end of the season. With the suspension of Etienne for four games, will we see Lawrence throw the ball more? Will this lead to more interceptions? I think that the losses and interceptions will pile up and Lawrence will be losing his abilities at the end of the season.
AFC East:
Buffalo Bills (6-3): The Bills lost their first game of the season to the Jets but have been piling up the wins ever since. Josh Allen has been putting up touchdowns but he is on the interception watch at the moment. He is at 16 at the midpoint and if we project that number out, he will lose his abilities at the end of the season. I don’t think this will happen, as the Bills will get control of Allens passing and settle down, while piling on the wins.
New York Jets (5-4): This is the only division in the league that has all four teams with winning records. To be at the bottom of the division with a winning record can be looked at in both a positive and negative light. The positive news is they are only one game away from being at the top of the division, while the negative news is so is everyone else. This division will be close all season and I can see the Jets rely on Cook and his juke moves to propel them into the playoffs.
