New Orleans, LA – October 25, 2023
PML is a league where everything is always moving and right now rumors are circulating that the New Orleans Saints are considering calling up a rising star from PML’s developmental league, the Evolve League. The name on everyone’s minds? Eric Stork, a speed-demon of a running back who has been capturing hearts and highlight reels in the minor league.
The speculation comes at a time when the Saints, led by a new regime in the front office and on the sidelines, are navigating the uncharted waters of a competitive rebuild. With the team poised for a changing of the guard, the spotlight has fallen on their prized running back, Alvin Kamara. Kamara, an integral part of the Saints’ offense for several years, has thrived especially in the passing game and been one of the best running backs in the league. However, at 28 years old, he’s beginning to exit his prime years, which presents a conundrum for the team as they look to not miss a beat from game to game and season to season.
The Saints acknowledge that Kamara remains a pivotal asset for the upcoming season, but with the team undergoing a transition towards younger players, the front office has become increasingly concerned about their future in the backfield. Despite Kamara’s undeniable talent, the Saints are reluctant to rely solely on him in the long run, especially given the uninspiring performances of Kendre Miller and their recent free-agent acquisition, Darrell Henderson Jr. Both have failed to consistently be a strong back when they enter for the winded, aging Kamara with no real strengths of speed or size or ability. Alvin Kamara was extended by the previous front office and while he’s been an integral part of the Saints for years and this season where they sit at 7-3 atop the NFC South, there’s no connection between him and the new staff.
Enter Eric Stork. This electrifying running back has taken the Evolve League by storm, exhibiting a combination of speed, shiftiness, and a knack for finding the endzone with 21 total through 11 games, 14 on the ground and 7 through the air. Scouts and fans alike have marveled at his ability to get the edge, catch passes out of the backfield, and leave defenders grasping at thin air. Stork’s breakout performances have left many convinced that he’s ready for PML, and the Saints might just be the team to give him his big break. He’s also 22 years old, the most important piece as the Saints have repeatedly emphasized the need for youth as they are currently the oldest team in the league.
The Saints are drawn to Stork’s breakaway speed, which should translate well enough to PML, hopefully providing an extra dynamic element to the Saints’ offense that Kamara has given but most likely won’t be able to sustain past this year. His shiftiness and pass-catching abilities are precisely what the team needs as they aim to transition from their aging core to a younger, more vibrant roster.
While this rumor remains speculative at this point, it underscores the Saints’ commitment to maintaining competitiveness during their rebuilding phase. The PML world eagerly awaits official word on whether Eric Stork will indeed make the jump to the big league with the New Orleans Saints. If the rumors are true, the Saints’ offense may have found the missing piece to propel them into a new era of success past the Kamara era. Eric Stork can save the Saints a draft pick while also being a much more sure thing than any PML draft pick and he’s still just 22 years old.
