Transcript: Bills Head Coach Press Conference

How is the team handling the bye week this week?

We did a ton of self evaluating knowing we are without some key guys. We’ve adjusted some roles and watched film on the chiefs vs jets game to help prepare for our game next week. Assembled a new offense and defensive playbook to help keep things off previous scouting reports and help ensure we can throw everything at this final stretch of the year starting with the AFC top dog Kansas City.

Over your career, what makes a team better at not turning the ball over as the season goes along? What kind of things you need to emphasize? How much of it is coaching? How much of it is a mental part? Physical part?

It’s all about taking the easy 3-4 yards vs huge chunk plays. We did real good and minimizing our turnover plays and keeping the offense on slow methodical drives. Hit a few good runs to set up the play action and we kept Josh playing his kind of ball. We have to keep that same gameplan to avoid stacking up the turn overs and just trust our defense to get some 3 and outs. We could stand to emphasize the run game more and keep that approach throughout the game vs panicking and jumping into 5 wide which in turn puts our Qb in danger. Keep the gameplan simple and help out coach keep the game close.

Can you describe kind of the energy or the mood and the vibe in the building now coming in the home stretch?

Higher than ever! The intensity is turned up as we hit one of the hardest stretches in PML as far as strength of schedule. Sitting at 7-5 as most of our division is the stakes are higher then normal and right now we hold a good portion of cards in our hands with either playing spoiler or fighting for that final seed in the afc. The guys no the task we are locked and loaded and coming week 15 we get everyone back besides Knox who is currently injured. We look to make a good run to finish off the season and hope for some late year games.
