Can you describe how important it was to get a win at home this week?
Absolutely, securing a win at home is huge for us. No matter the kind of season we're having, when you can put on a show for the home crowd and come away with that victory, it's big. It lifts the whole town, gives the fans something to rally behind. It's a reminder to them, and to us, that we've got the grit to turn things around. Plus, it's about pride, too. This is our house, and we want to defend it. Every win here is a step in rebuilding that fortress mentality. So yeah, very important, no question.
How do you see the competition level in the AFC West currently?
The AFC West, it's like a heavyweight title fight right now, every single week. You've got the Chargers and the Chiefs slugging it out up top. They’re in a league of their own, setting the bar. And sure, we're not in that mix just yet. We’re laying down the groundwork, rebuilding, and we're clear-eyed about where we're at in that process.
We're building a team that's gonna last, that's gonna compete at that level and beyond, not just a flash in the pan. It's about getting the right pieces in place, the right mindset, the right culture. So, we're watching the competition, learning, and we're hungry. When our time comes we're going to remember these days, the grind, and it'll make the victories that much sweeter. Right now, we’re putting in the work so that when we say we're going to compete, we mean we're going to compete to win it all.
Can you describe kind of the energy or the mood and the vibe in the building now coming in the home stretch?
The energy in the building? lol… lets keep it real… we're professionals, and we're always going to compete, that's what we do, but there's a vibe that we're also turning one eye toward the offseason. The guys are still putting in the work, still trying to finish strong because that's what this game demands. Every time you step on that field, you've got to give it everything, no matter what the standings say.
It's been a long season, a grind, and everyone's got that spot in Cancun or wherever they decompress in mind. We're not checking out early, but we're human. You better believe plans are being made, flights are getting booked, but that's for after the final whistle of the final game. Until then, we're focused on leaving it all out there on the field.
