PML Reality Checks: AFC playoffs is a coin toss, while NFC sent 7 most competitive users they had.

Overreactions & Reality Checks for PML

Jets, Greeny’s window closes if they don’t finish the story season 1
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
We all knew what it was with the Jets. They were a plug and play season 1 team that were equipped with all the tools and depth to compete for an early Super Bowl. The Jets were put in a division with 2 top teams and a top tier user. They battled through that all season to win 11 games and narrowly put themselves in a position to be the AFC 1 seed. The story has to be finished season 1 with the potential retirement, or at the very least, regression of superstars quarterback Aaron Rodgers. They’ve already dealt Zach Wilson, and Dalvin Cook is another year closer to 30. On top of that, veterans such as Mosley, A.Davis, Lawson, Huff, Tomlinson, Whitehead, Amos, and Clark should all be headed towards free agency whether it’s because their contract expires or for cap relief. That forces the Jets to fill the roster with much less experienced and lower overall players and losing some good depth at all positions. Of course, the rest of the AFC heavy hitters such as DK, KingMike, and Spdot now have their rebuild rosters and much better shape- and who knows where KMFO goes. It’s now or never for Greeny and the Jets. Let’s see if they could cash in on this opportunity before the door closes in New York.

NFC got it right with the playoffs teams
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
Looking up and down the NFC playoff bracket, it seems we have all the teams we assumed would be in the playoffs for the first season based on pre-cycle discussion and predictions. I’ll also double down and say they have the 7 most competitive users representing each division + division. An early argument could have been made for the Vikings over the Bears, but as the season progressed, the Bears identified themselves as the better team this season. This will be a good one, and I look forward to seeing how the games play out in the NFC as I sincerely could say I wouldn’t be shocked at any one of these teams in the Super Bowl.

This will be the most unpredictable PML playoffs we will have in a long time.
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
Both the NFC and AFC are wide open. The race to seed 1 is still competitive in week 18 for both conferences, which is absurd. Usually at least one of the conferences has their one seed locked in, but that is not the case this year. Both conferences are extremely competitive right now with all of the top 5 teams being within 1 to 2 games of one another. It will certainly be interesting to see how it goes this year. I feel like there is no clear favorite in general for this upcoming playoffs.

More coaches may be moved this offseason than expected.
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
Through a few announcements, it seems that JT has made it clear that PML has tons of people interested in the league and only the best of the best will be allowed. The emergence of the Evolve League and the PML Carousel really puts a lot of guys on the hot seat possibly that you may thank would not have been. I predict two to three coaches will be replaced in the offseason. KMFO is applying pressure mid cycle once again and based on how valuable of a member he is, someone will be subbed out for him almost guranteed. I just see one or two more unexpected changes coming too.

This is the biggest PML offseason EVER
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
Not really a hot take or anything, I just don’t think everyone knows how BIG this offseason is. The new free agency rules should make free agency actually feel big. Every season I have been here there have been like gems, but no superstars or anything. I think the new rules will change that, and there will be some strategy behind your bids now that there is a limit per week. Then you got the draft which might have one of the best PML QB classes in recent memory. Also can’t forget the new regression and how that will impact some older teams/players.

All AFC playoff matchups are truly 50/50
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
2 vs 7: Ke vs Beast could really go either way, Ke has the homefield advantage, he has the PML playoff experience, and imo the coaching advantage, but Beast has a HUGE team advantage so it could really go either way. 3 v 6: Spdot vs Greeny for the 100th time, these guys are true rivals and know each others every move. Spdot is 2-0 vs Greeny this cycle, but everyone knows beating someone 3 times in one season is one of the hardest things to do, Spdot may have the homefield advantage… Greeny has the QB advantage. Dot is having a QB battle going into the playoffs and I think that will impact the Patriots negatively, but I’m not sure if it’s enough to cause him to lose. 4 vs 5: Curt vs Me (Chargers) at first glance you think there would be an obvious favorite, but then a deeper look you see Justin Herbert, Derwin James, Johnston, and Byron Jones all out for the majority of the playoffs. You could lean one way and say I have a coaching advantage or lean the other way and say Heyward/Watt are going to have a career day vs Flacco and on offense abuse the Chargers lackluster defense. This is the first time in my PML career I have seen no true favorites in any matchup.
