Revisiting My Preseason Award Predictions.

MVP
My Pick: Tony Pollard
Winner: Dalvin Cook

I was correct in predicting that the MVP winner would be a running back, just picked the wrong one. In my defense I thought madden would make Dalvin terrible like he is in real life, but I was wrong. They gave him juke box so now he is a monster. Pollard missed some games but did not get the workload that is needed to win MVP.

OPOY
My Pick: Justin Herbert
Winners: Dalvin Cook/Emari Demercado

Herbert might have won MVP and OPOY if he stayed healthy the whole year, but he missed a few games and fell out of the race. Cook and Demercado got heavy workloads that helped them win these awards, and all of the top contenders were running backs.

DPOY
My Pick: Fred Warner
Winners: Cam Heyward and Micah Parsons.

Fred Warner did make the DPOY list at 9, but did not come close to winning. Parsons led the league in sacks, and Heyward may have had the greatest run defense season we have ever seen with over 40 tackles for loss. Heyward had more than 10 sacks to his name as well.

OROY
My Pick: Bijan Robinson
Winners: De’von Achane and Emari Demercado
Nef didn’t use Bijan enough, lining him up at WR instead of giving him handoffs. Achane and Demercado had outstanding seasons in their own right. Achane’s speed allowed him to outrun defenders and Demercado put the Cardinals offense on his back.

DROY
My Pick: Christian Gonzalez
Winners: Keion White and Calijah Kancey

It seems like madden is rewarding sacks this year in the awards races, as the two rookie sack leaders take home the awards. The Patriots had 3 rookies on the DROY list, including Gonzalez as well as Ameer Speed. White stepped up as their top pass rusher however. White’s presence helped the Pats defense a ton with the underwhelming play of Matthew Judon on the other end. p
