As anyone one who has checked discord knows, there was some controversy that arose due to the way I addressed a content point fine in discord. The goal of this article is to address some of the rumors and speculation that followed. Unfortunately, many of you won’t read this in its entirety and will probably still speak as though you know what I was thinking. Or you’ll simply hit me with a “Yeah, I’m not reading all that.” It is what it is, and false narratives is something we will discuss later in the article, but first lets start with some of the questions that arose. Such as: Why was Mali so outraged with this point fine, and why did Mali address this publicly? Did Mali go to far and give himself a slip to the carousel? Are commissioners carrying out their roles consistently and without bias?
Why was Mali so outraged with this point fine, and why did Mali address this publicly?
One of the things I hear over and over again is that there are proper channels to address these situations, and that I shouldn’t have brought it to general chat. Additionally, you’ll hear statements like “other people have had worse and you should just take your fine and move on”. This all sounds great in theory, but it would require a proper channel that ACTUALLY makes a difference. Some would say this would be your liaison, some would say this would be a rule change proposal, and some would say you could have messaged JT directly. To understand my frustration, you have to understand first that it is not this one single event that led to aggression. It was a cumulation of multiple instances in which these supposed proper channels just result in nothing, or even worse trolling. Just earlier this cycle I reached out to try and figure out why a player that was not on the no trade list a week prior was suddenly on the no trade list. I reached out to JT and got no response. I reached out to my liaison and other commissioners. Got 3 different answers and trolled by one of them(Hilariously, the troll was the only one with any validity to what they were saying and gave what ended up being the case, but in a trolling manner). When I finally did get an answer from JT, it wasn’t because he replied to me. Rather, it was via a screenshot from the person I was talking a trade with. Who, to my surprise, got an immediate response from JT. In the end the reasoning ended up being something that was never stated publicly or ever voted in past, making my confusion pretty understandable. Another instance of just deal with it, and I still haven’t discussed any of it behind closed doors with JT because he has still never addressed or replied to me privately). He seems to only like to troll publicly as a response. Super respectful. When it comes to rule proposals. The sad truth is that for the most part it is just a popularity contest, and we’ve even had people in chat stating that well thought out proposed rules that are too long… They aint reading all dat! So whats the point? We all know PML is driven by certain clicks, and I am not in one. Futhermore, I am not going to waste my time campaigning something just to be trolled because its me proposing it. So what are the proper channels when you have explored them and only been returned inconsistent information, been trolled in response, or simply not replied to at all? This case was no different. I first brought it to commissioner attention that the change in my depth chart was done by madden due to an injury and if that could be considered, along with the fact that per my stream you can see it was remedied on my first defensive drive and the player saw only a few snaps at most. I was promptly told in nicer terms but essentially, I get where you coming from but we aren’t going to consider anything further so you can f*** off. So of course I brought it public, and of course I addressed it with aggression. Then I was muted, whilst the same commissioner and others trolled and talked s*** while I can’t respond. I’m going to call you a cuck if you let that fly. The simple fact is that we are all adults with lives. I work full time, I do college full time online, I have dad responsibilities, husband responsibilities, and adult responsibilities. Still I carve out time, just like JT and many of you, to contribute to this league and earn content points. Therefore the ultimate disrespect to me is to basically be told f*** your time and we are taking those points and there will be no consideration. If it was something I did intentionally, I could understand it, but I didn’t. That is far more disrespectful in my eyes then asking for a month refund and calling someone a b****. Which I have been called a b**** more times then I can count in PML. No one gives a f***. All the sudden its the worst thing in the world? What about the dude who has threatened to kill and beat the f*** out of members? Still here. What about the trolls that don’t bring nothing to chat but that? Still here.
Black & White + Consistency my a**
The new hot way of justifying rulings that make little to no sense is saying that these things are black and white and cannot be considered on a case by case situation. This is supposedly the commish team keeping consistency. Yet when Dramaman pointed out with screenshots that Vet had broken the 4th down rule against him, what came of that? Nothing. The commish team knew about, Cammy himself said he would review to see if Madden suggested it. Guess what, vets perspective isn’t available because the stream was already gone from his past videos and he was running hurry up on some of the 4ths down so you can’t see if madden suggested it anyways. What is consistent or black and white about that? Week 18 PML Redzone for the Bills vs Dolphins where JC, a commissioner, is commentating and spectating the game with Cook. Up 45-7 and starters should be benched Stefon Diggs is seemingly still the slot WR and gets on the field multiple times mistakenly. Even Cook points out he doesn’t want to be a snitch, and keep in mind he is watching the game with a commissioner. This is not me saying that I think it makes any sense for Beast or the Vet to be suspended and subtracted points. It doesn’t, and I think most members share the same sentiment that Cook does of not wanting to be a snitch. However, I have to point it out because when you say it is black and white and there is no case by case basis and then you see the same commissioners letting other things fly, it doesn’t fit. You have Nef on the breakfast show saying that in the Dak and Drama blowout situation that it was treated on a case by case basis. He didn’t get a first down and Cooper Rush played the rest of the game. Nef went on to say that this was a situation that the commissioners voted on. “We gave him a pass for that because he corrected himself immediately.” How in the f*** is this any different than my sub lb depth chart getting auto changed by Madden, and as soon as I notice the player getting subbed and never seeing the field again? H*** mines even more justifiable because I didn’t expect him to be in and Drama knew Dak would be in. Yet I get a “I get what you’re saying but unfortunately we’re handling everything as black and white right now so the suspension is gonna stay. This was discussed tho.” It just goes to show how bullshit that all is.
The False Narratives
As we all know there are various avenues of talking PML. Its a great thing, but one unfortunate result is that opinion is often presented as fact, when it isn’t. People create their own narratives, but words in your mouth, or bring straight up misinformation to that table. Let’s dive into that. Take the breakfast show for example, you have Nef saying, “You got Mail in chat saying…Oh I switched out my safety…. Well then when did you switch out your safety…..Near the end of the second quarter? That nearly half the half the game you played him at sub lb. What do you expect me to say?” Ladies and gentlemen this is not only false. This is from a commissioner pulling fake facts out of thin air. Who evenr said the end of the second quarter? Not me, and thats certainly not the case. This is who I am supposed to rely on as a proper channel? It pure misinformation and I told my liaison that I have it on stream that I noticed on a few snaps into THE FIRST DRIVE 4 MINS INTO AN HOUR LONG GAME. Yet talking heads that are commissioners get to spin a narrative? This is where my frustration comes from. Lets take a look into what Codes wrote. “JT finally asked a 4th time if he wanted that refund and Mali replied “nah im good”. There’s a reason he avoided it 3 times, he knew he was wrong for doing that, yet JT gave him a pass.” Wrong, didn’t have anything to do with being wrong or right. I never asked for a refund with he intention of actually getting a refund. I asked for a refund just so it’s clear to JT that I felt so disrespected by a lack of response and disregard for my time and effort, that I would in turn show a disrespect for his time by asking for a refund. I am returning the same attitude I got. The difference is I would never actually accept it because despite a disrespect for me, and disagreeing with the handling of certain situations I still do respect the time and effort JT has put into PML. Maybe some day that will be returned.
