Can you talk about the development of Drake Maye so far?
Drake Maye is our franchise quarterback. We loved what we saw out of him coming out of college. Through the course of the off-season and pre-season he has been exactly what we want him to be. People are talking about an ugly start to pre-season, in the first two weeks and asking why we sat him this last week versus the Steelers. We got what we wanted out of him, he's shown he can read the field and he can make throws when we need him. There are some kinks we want to iron out and eventually we'll get his full product.
How has Eric Kendricks’s experience in the league helped the team so far?
We were so lucky to pick up Eric Kendricks in the off-season through free agency. Coming into this team this off-season, I have to be honest.. It lacked a real veteran presence. Eric Kendricks is exactly what we needed. He has a group of young guys around him, practically in every position of the defense. Before every practice, after every practice and before every game in pre-season so far. He has given a speech, got the team going. We're hoping with his veteran presence this year we can see him help keep the team disciplined and help this defense make smart football winning plays.
How do you see the competition level in the NFC East currently?
Coming into this season we know that everyone looks at us as the bottom feeders in this division and probably doesn't expect it to get better, due to the fact of where we are as a team. But I don't believe that for a moment, I have strong hope that we'll be able to achieve what we need as a team and offer ourselves as a threat in the NFC East. We know Cowboys are the team with the target on their back. We're not going to downplay the Eagles or the Giants either. We saw how the Eagles went on a streak of wins to end the season and they're a good team. We fully expect a bounce-back by them. As for the Giants, in a similar boat as the Commanders last season. They added some key assets this off-season, potentially got a new starting Quarterback. I expect the NFC East as a whole to be a fight, and war through all seventeen weeks of the season.
