PML Week 2 Pick Ems’

PML Pick Ems’ is going to be a weekly segment featuring Greeny, Arod, Cammy, Burn, and I where we predict the winners for every PML game. We will also have excerpts each week from each of us, but these excerpts will feature different topics each week. This week we are focusing on each matchup and discussing around the league in the PML.

Week 2 Matchups Recap –

There weren’t any huge upsets in week 1 in terms of our pickers, but there were a few coaches that had rough starts in season 1 bounce back with wins this week. The Vikings, Raiders, and Broncos have coaches that severely under performed in season 1 and are looking to turn their cycles around this season. Greeny was this week’s pick em’ leader sitting at 14-2, it’s a trend that we noticed throughout the season last season.

Greeny

Carolina  35 – Baltimore 31:

A game with two coaches coming off losses and bad season ones. This game is crucial to both as it can propel their season 2. I think both of their blitz heavy style defenses will get burned a few times. Ultimately I side with jts run game pulling off a big drive at the end of the game to come away with the win. If arod can use lamars legs to extend plays against the blitz he will have people open but it remains to be seen if he can take advantage of that.

Cleveland 45 – Pittsburgh 17:

Cleveland at this point has still not played week one game so it’s hard to evaluate how they will play this season. Kmfo has said repeatedly he will have zero suspensions this year so he may not run up scores as he did in the past. If that happens the score may be closer but I’ll take the Browns by 3 scores either way.

Denver 45 – Jacksonville 42:

Two very good offensive coaches meetup in week 2. Jags have not played week one but are expecting a much better season two. Denver also had a subpar ( to their standards ) season1 but got a victory week one over the Playoff hopeful Falcons. Denver got out to a huge lead before almost giving the game away at the end. They’ll need to play four full quarters if they want to beat the Jags here.

Miami 23 – Tennessee 31:

Titans had one of the worst losses in recent pml history week 1. Up 4 scores at half to then lose if rough. I will cut Dlloyd slack because of the insane lag in the game and expect him to bounce back week 2. He played an incredible first half and if he plays like that again he will win week 2. The matchup to note here is Titans heavy man style play vs Tyreek. The Dolphins again passed under 20 times week one so it remains to be seen if they can take advantage of the Tyreek vs whoever is manning him up in this game.

Burn –

Minnesota 28 – Arizona 21:

The Vikings came out last week versus a new user in the league and just absolutely demolished them. Milton was on fire, and the defense forced one of the top rated rookie quarterbacks in may to throw 4 interceptions.

The Cardinals played last week’s game just like they finished last season. It was a close game but they ultimately lost in the end. THe team is much improved, and they have quite possibly the fastest receiving core in the league.

This game will be close, however, it will be the Viking defense that wins them this close game.

New York Jets 24 – Houston 17:

The Jets were the talk of the town all offseason long with their trade to take Caleb Williams. Everything was great in New York, until the first game of the season hit. Williams was just okay in his season debut, and the Jets offense somehow looked worse with him on the field compared to last season.

The Texans turned one of the worst rosters in the league into a playoff team, then went and got a top ten pick in the draft. They are just turning heads over there and look to make a deeper playoff run. Bowers will be the reason they win a playoff game this season.

I think that the Jets come out and get this win, only because the Texans might have some players suspended due to their week one game. If the Texans are fully roster though, they take this game.

Green Bay 35 – New England 14:

The Packers came out and demolished a playoff Bears team. This was supposed to be a great week one matchup, but it turned into something that was an afterthought in the Bears locker room. The Packers defense is legit and will be looking to take them to the Superbowl this season.

The Mac Jones era is done in New England. They drafted a rookie in Leonard and he did a great job in week one. The issue is he was facing a Colts team that  isn’t very good and who is projected to win very few games this season. This week he will be asked to throw against one of the best defenses in the league and I think he will fail.

The Packers defense creates multiple turnovers, and they coast to the victory.

AROD –

Los Angeles Rams 35 – Tampa Bay 27:

Cook has been hot since the playoff run that propelled them to the cycle’s first Super Bowl title.  I don’t expect them to be derailed this week by the Cammy train.  Rookie quarterback Jaylen Henderson will have his hands full trying to put up enough points to keep up with the trigger happy Baker Mayfield.  Mayfield is coming off a stellar performance that saw him go 18 for 19 and 4 touchdowns in week 1’s victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The Rams will make the right adjustments to bait Baker Mayfield into some critical mistakes down the stretch.  Look for the Rams to prevail on the road to go 2-0 on the campaign.

Kansas City  41 – Cincinnati 17:

The schedule gods weren’t kind to Goose out the gate as he moved from KMFO to Matigy in the first 2 weeks of the young season.  I just can’t phantom an upset here and have to go with the obvious choice in this one as the Mahomes Burrow classic matchup may be a one-sided affair by halftime with both starters relegated to clipboard duty by late in the game.  I got Trent McDuffie with a pair of interceptions and the Chiefs leaving Cincinnati with the dub.

Atlanta 23 – Washington 21:

The Falcons are coming off a heartbreaking loss where they were just mere feet away from securing a catch to tie up what was a great ball game to watch.  Miles flatlined in his cycle debut as he still learns the ins and outs of his new roster as Drake Maye (1TD/4INT) had as bad a debut one could have entering the NFL at the 3rd overall selection.  This game may be closer than some believe, but the Falcons will pull it out in the end leaving Miles in search of his first PML victory.

Cammy –

Chicago 34 – Indianapolis 13:

Last week the Colts got mollywhopped by the Patriots and are in the hopes that they can bounce back this week. Unfortunately for the Colts they are up against a strong team in Chicago Bears. Although the Bears also got mollywhopped last week I think when it comes to coaching the Bears are just a must stronger team and have them pulling out with the win.

Detroit  28 – Buffalo 21:

Detroit looks like a brand-new team this season with Goff coming back from injury and Gibbs getting the jukebox ability. Although the Bills came back from a crazy 27-0 deficit, I think the Lions can pull out this victory. It all comes down if the Bills can focus on and stop Gibbs or not and keep the ball safe.

Los Angeles Chargers 31 – Las Vegas 24:

Although Jayden Daniels looked really good in his opening game, I think he’s going to receive a welcome to the PML moment this week when he goes up against his division rival the Chargers. I think the pressure that Derwin James brings to that pass defense will be enough to get the Chargers the victory.

Fallen –

New Orleans 35 – Dallas  30:

I think the Cowboys have the better team on paper but JC is a better coach than Drama and I think that Drama is going to focus on aspects of the game that he cannot control and in the fourth quarter, he is going to get hoe’d by the game, and it’s going to cause him to lose.

Seattle 31  VS San Francisco 28:

Z and CEO are very familiar with each other’s playing styles and Seattle is coming off a divisional win and San Francisco is coming off of a divisional loss in week 1. Losing back to back division games is going to put CEO in a rough spot, but I don’t think Brock Purdy has what it takes this week to pass on Seattle’s lock down cornerback group.

New York Giants 21 – Philadelphia 14:

Burn has beaten HD twice this cycle already and I think he is going to pick up the hat trick this week. Point blank, HD has zero respect for Burn, he thinks he’s trash. HD believes that he knows what Burn is going to want to run at all times and it’s going to cause him to over pursue on some of his defensive plays which will result in scoring opportunities for the New York Giants.
