What were the keys to the team’s victory this week?
First of all, what a win. A win we needed to get that pressure off of our shoulders. Some of our keys, were the first half redzone stops. I believe they had three drives that first half, where they were inside the twenty yard line and only came away with three points on each of those drives. As well as in the second half, two picks in the redzone. I couldn't have asked anymore from this defense in terms of the redzone defense. Our rush game was on point, Penny, Henderson and Robinson all did their part and Maye made key passes when it mattered.
Can you summarize what it was like playing against the Vikings last week?
We want to move on from that game as quickly as we can and I feel like we did this week, but it wasn't good. Too many errors, on both sides of the ball. Too many turnovers and too many chunk plays given up. Coach Wimmy and the Vikings capitalized on all of those errors and if we want a successful season we can't have a repeat of those mistakes we made the first game. Nearly the whole game was filled with it.
Can you talk about the development of Drake Maye so far?
It's still early, but through two games Drake is showing off that he is strong mentally. After a rough week one showing, he showed that he can bounce back how he did in week two. Forget the mistakes and move onto the next week. As he continues to grow mentally off the field, he continues to improve with his ability to find the open play on offense and make plays when it matters most for us.
