Today we’re going to breakdown the numbers of how my team performed in Week 1.
In Week 1 we took on the defending NFC runner ups in the Chicago Bears. They added some major pieces to their team. They acquired two superstar pass rushers on their defense and another WR1 basically in Marvin Harrison Jr. We did not even find out about these moves until 48 hours before the game thanks to our friend in Houston. Now let’s get into the key stats.
Offense
Jordan Love – 23/27, Completion Percentage of 85.2%, 3 TDs, 2 INTs
Aaron Jones – 102 Yards, 1 TD
Romeo Doubs – 3 Catches, 64 Yards
Christian Watson – 6 Catches, 76 Yards
Another efficient game from our young offense. Jordan Love had 2 bad interceptions, but other than that he played a really clean game. Our offense is definitely the weakest point in our team and we want to heavily emphasize improving it. We had a top 5 rushing attack last season and now want to start developing the pass game. We expect to see our QB and young WR core make the next step to becoming great.
Defense
Kenny Clark – 8 Tackles, 2 Sacks
Eric Stokes, 1 Tackles, 1 Pick Six
Marquise Blair – 2 INTs
Jabrill Peppers – 1 INT, 1 Forced Fumble
Kenny Clark did what he always does best and that is clog up the middle. Our other star pass rusher Rashan Gary was a no show in this game which was a shock. We traded for safety Jabrill Peppers so he could be our box safety to compete with the speed we have in our division. Especially the Lions, who gave us the most problems out of our whole division honestly. It is great seeing Peppers make an impact early on and I believe he is currently leading our team in interceptions. This trade so far looks like a good one for our defense.
We came out and dominated the Chicago Bears in Week 1. Great performance on both sides of the ball. Let’s say us resting starters and giving them a chance to make a deep playoff run (which they did) had our team more pumped for this game than the usual. Our young guys came to play!
