Who’s On The Hot Seat

This is a hypothetical article on the standing of PML coaches if these were actual organizations with the expectations they have and which coaches would be on the hot seat. It only takes into account how teams are performing and has nothing to do with chat activity, content, or team building moves. Maybe a “Which GM is on the hot seat” is another piece of content I’ll do.

Freezing Cold
Bills: Good team who’s off to a good start this season after making the AFC championship game last season. Performing really well.
Patriots: Not a good team, no franchise quarterback, and not many offensive threats yet they made it to the super bowl. Safe as you can be.
Texans: Took a young and scrappy squad to the 2 seed, who cares they couldn’t win the playoff game with what people thought pre-season. They’re only getting better.
Chiefs: Best quarterback and solid team and they have been a top team since this coach took over. No playoff win hurts but not enough to bring his job into question.
Packers: Youngest team in the league got the 2 seed and lost to the eventual champs. Can’t be mad at making Jordan Love work.
Saints: Not a terrible roster and didn’t get a playoff win but definitely overperformed getting the 1 seed having an elite offense.
Rams: Brought the Rams back to the super bowl and won after people thought their window had closed. Job is secured more than anyone but now has to make a rookie quarterback work.
Seahawks: Won the tough division but couldn’t win a playoff game. Showed enough to get trusted with a rookie quarterback.

Chilly
Steelers: Won a playoff game after a midseason quarterback change, very impressive. Off to a bad start this year, though.
Chargers: Front office went all in and they couldn’t get past the first round. Still a well coached team that suffered heartbreaking injuries.
Bears: Deep playoff run almost making it to the super bowl with a poor roster but opened this season horrendously against Green Bay, fans in Chicago aren’t sold.
Falcons: Narrowly missed playoffs last season and off to a solid start. Definitely well coached and could just be a quarterback away. Is 5-2 in the division, too.
Cardinals: Season started to look solid after Kyler came back and can’t be held to how they performed with Clayton Tune. Off to a great start this season and 2-1 in the division.

Room Temperature
Jets: Made the playoffs last season but that was expected after trading for Rodgers and he wasn’t even that good. Then the front office brings in Caleb and it hasn’t translated to wins.
Browns: They fired their last coach after narrowly missing the playoffs so a 4-0 start doesn’t mean he’s safe just yet. Ownership wants deep playoff success clearly.
Titans: Choked away a playoff appearance last season and now 0-4. The roster is young and has holes but time is ticking.
Broncos: Season turned around towards the end of last season and now they’ve brought in Chubb. Win now or else seems to be the message.
Commanders: Just like Cleveland, Washington reset after a one and done but this coach may be safer since he’s got a rookie and a worse roster with lower expectations.
Lions: 4-0 Start has them feeling good but there are doubters after last season’s downfall. Jury is out on both Jared Goff and the coach.
Buccaneers: They are making Baker Mayfield an MVP candidate with their elite offense and are a solid 4-3 in the division despite a shaky roster. Baker’s one year extension can be seen as the same for the coach.

Heating Up
Dolphins: Narrowly missed the playoffs but this is a good team with high expectations and they’re off to a 1-3 start this season. It’s not looking good.
Jaguars: Another talented team that missed the playoffs off to a bad start, but they did get some momentum going late last season so maybe it can pick back up.
Colts: The roster is young and not good but time is ticking to get some wins. 2-2 is a solid start including a division win.
Raiders: Jimmy G wasn’t actually the answer but last season still had disappointment. 2-2 with the rookie could be a sign of turning it around or could management want a new coach for Jayden Daniels.
Cowboys: They won the division but lost their playoff game and really fell off the second half of last season and have started 0-4. The team is perhaps in it’s last year before their window closes and a total reset could happen.
Giants: Daniel Jones seemed like the problem since the front office went and got Ewers instead so this coach is getting a second chance but a disastrous first season and bottom 3 offense could be the end especially in the modern day of offense.
Vikings: 1-6 in the division is hurting them more than anything. The roster isn’t special and they may feel like they have to move on to help their rookie quarterback sooner than later if they don’t start winning.
Panthers: A bad roster with tons of holes but Bryce Young still looks bad and they are 1-8 in the division. How much time does this coach have?

On Fire
Bengals: A team we’ve seen go extremely far in the playoffs had a terrible year despite no major injury to Joe Burrow and 0-4 with a -108 point differential. It’s now or never in Cincinnati.
Ravens: Another team with a roster built to win seeing nothing but failure. Lamar Jackson and the offense look Terrible and Baltimore may ship off Greg Roman 2.0 before their fans revolt.
Eagles: 2-2 start to this season could save his job if it continues but a super-bowl caliber roster wasting Jason Kelce’s final year with poor defense. The Eagles must win if he wants to earn another year.
