The Race For Their First Win

We are entering week 5 in the Premier Madden League and currently we have 4 defeated teams in the league. The mentality in PML is anyone can beat anyone at any given time. The odds of this happening depends on the skill levels of each of the coaches and the luck they could get from the game. In this article we are going to go through the schedules of each of the defeated teams and see when they could get their first win of the season.

Tennessee Titans: Jags (1-3), Pats (3-1), Browns (4-0), Vikings (1-2)

The Titans have faced off against a range of opponents in their first four games. They have played decently in all of their games, with their game versus the Dolphins being their closest loss. This was a game they could have won.

They are putting up yards through the air, but the defense is struggling to contain teams and the offense can’t compensate. They have a winnable game coming up, with the Jags this week. The Jags actually should be on this list as well but, their computer got them the win over the Broncos. This game will be their easiest challenge in the next few weeks, and they should be keyed all in this week. If they don’t win this week, it could be a while for them to get that all elusive first win.

Verdict: I think they get it going this week and beat the Jags.

Dallas Cowboys: Eagles (2-2), Bengals (0-4), Eagles (2-2), Commanders (2-2)

Oh how the mighty have fallen…

The Cowboys won the division last year, and proceeded to immediately get booted out of the playoffs. They went out and ensured that their team stayed the best in the league, and currently is the best team in the league overall wise. The coach isnt doing them justice as they are currently one of the worst records in the league. They have played a tough schedule, with all teams being .500 or better, but does this show that they can’t compete with the top coaches in the league and need to play the lesser coaches and rosters in order to win games? This is what the current narrative looks like and it won’t be going away any time soon.

The Cowboys have the easiest path to a first win of any of the teams on this list. They play 3 divisional games, combined with another 0 win team. If they play this right, they could be 4-4, and quite possibly lead the division afterwards. If they do it wrong and continue to lose they could be 0-8 and be the laughing stock of the league by being winless with the best team in the league.

Verdict: Given the rivalry between the two of these coaches, no way in the world can I see Drama letting HD knock him to 0-5. That would just be too much embarrassment for Drama to face in the chat. I think he will pull out all the corner routes in the world in order to win this game.
Baltimore Ravens: Browns (4-0), Raiders (2-2), Dolphins (1-3), Broncos (1-3)

The Ravens had their chances to get their first win in the first four weeks of the season. They came close versus the Panthers but all the other games were blowouts. I felt they had a good shot week 1 but that turned out to be further from the truth. Statistically, they have a good chance to get their first win given the records of the next few opponents.

The Ravens roster is one of the best in the league and they have possibly the best Madden quarterback in the league, but there’s a reason why he doesn’t have his abilities anymore.

Verdict: I think the Ravens lose all of these games and have a real shot at continuing to lose until they face off against the Bengals in week 13.

Cincinnati Bengals: Steelers (1-3), Cowboys (0-4), Chargers (3-1), Bills (3-1)

Joe Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and even he can’t lead this offense to more than 14 points a game. When you can’t score, or play defense, the result is a winless team. This is the reality for a Bengals team who just got one of the best players in the league added to their division.

This is going to be a long rest of the season and the cycle for the Bengals. Something has to give, either the defense needs to step up or Burrow needs to lead this team in shootout games. He should be extremely accurate on every pass given his abilities, so what’s the issue with his throwing and interceptions?

Verdict: Depending on which Curt shows up next week, I can see a sneak win for the Bengals but in reality I think their first wins comes later in the season.

I believe two teams are getting their first wins this week, while the other two will have to wait some time for them. I hope that I am proved wrong and everyone can get a win this week. If the losses continue to pile on for these teams we will revisit the article later in the season.
