PML Pick Ems’ is going to be a weekly segment featuring Greeny, Arod, Burn, and I where we predict the winners for every PML game. We will also have excerpts each week from each of us, but these excerpts will feature different topics each week. This week we are focusing on each matchup and discussing around the league in the PML.
Week 5 Matchups Recap –
Dlloyd and the Tennessee Titans pulled off the 41-38 over Tbandit and the Jacksonville Jaguars this week. Despite the Jaguars having an awful season thus far, our predictors decided to trust Tbandit, and Dlloyd made them pay for that pick. Heading into week 6, Fallen leads our pickers with a 61-19 record and the next closest picker is Greeny with 58 correct guesses. Burn and Arod are slowly falling behind and they’ll need some perfect weeks to catch up to our leader.
Greeny –
GB 42 VS DET 42:
A TIE ! This game was very tough to call. Both coaches have been playing well. Usually you would take Hype over Fallen but Fallen has these lions looking like a top 3 team in the entire league right now. Chris Jones has been one of the biggest off-season additions in the league as he has helped transform the Lions defense. They were just gashed on the ground by Cam Akers and if that isn’t fixed then Hype might win by a few scores.
DAL 48 VS CIN 28:
The Cowboys have not been playing great football to start the season but coming off a division win they look to continue and build on that momentum. The bengals have been playing better as of late but haven’t been able to put together a full 40 minutes on both sides of the ball. The game is tied going into half with the Cowboys pulling away in the second half.
IND 35 VS JAX 31:
A tough division match up to call. Cb and the Colts were playing some bad football the first couple weeks and then turned it around in a huge way with some big clutch wins. Even last week’s loss they played well vs the 5-0 Lions. Bandit hasn’t been around much in chat and missed the first couple games of the season, it’s fair to question if he’s checked out completely already.
LV 21 VS BAL 24:
The Ravens get out of the losers bracket and pick up a huge W. The Baltimore defense is scary good and the Raiders rookie Qb is averaging over 2 turnovers per game. If the Ravens play ground and pound smart football I can see them winning a close one late. If they get away from that recipe and try throwing 40 times it would swing the other way by 2-3 scores.
Burn –
CHI 10 VS SEA 31:
I am assuming that this will be another computer game. If this is the case I can see the Seahawks taking advantage of playing on the computer and getting their rookie quarterback some confidence going into the rest of the season. I
CLE 27 VS KC 24 :
This could be a preview of the AFC championship game. Both teams are rolling this season and are undefeated. The Browns are demolishing anyone in their path and rank the best on defense. It will be interesting to see if that defense can contain the best quarterback in the league in Mahomes. The Chiefs just ended last week in a close game against the Texans. While I dont see this game being a blowout, I do believe the Browns will continue their winning ways.
PHI 41 VS 38 ATL:
The Eagles lost a heartbreaker last week. They have a favorable schedule and could find themselves atop of the east with a win this week. They jumped back up to having the top roster and the league and will face an injury prone Falcons team. The Falcons won last week with rpo run after catches and pressed defense. That won’t work this week as the Eagles have two great wide receivers who will demolish press coverage as well as a fast defense that will pursue the rpos. Eagles win in a close shootout.
PIT 21 VS LAC 30:
The Steelers are on a quiet two game winning streak with a offense that has scored 28 or more points in every game this season. If the defense could help out the offense and stop people, they could have a few more wins than they do. The Chargers are playing better than expected given the complete rebuild of a lot of their players. They rank as one of the best passing defenses in the league and I see that trend continuing in this game.
AROD –
TEN 13 VS NE 27:
The Titans head to Gillette Stadium fresh off a 3pt victory that saw Will Levis look like, well, a superstar as he threw for 500 yards and 4 touchdowns against a nonexistent Jaguars pass defense. Well, the Patriots unfortunately boast a top 5 pass defense so I don’t see Levis carrying over that success to week 6. The Patriots put the clamps on the Titans and roll by two scores as the win streak hits 3.
WAS 14 VS NYG 35:
The Commanders just gave up 62 points to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ironically they rank in the bottom percentile in pass defense, but number 1 in rush defense. Weird huh? Drake Maye has been a turnover machine with 15 interceptions through 5 games. Until Maye could limit the turnovers, I can confidently take Washington. Burn keeps the Giants in the thick of things as Giants take the home dub.
HOU 23 VS MIN 20:
It was alarming to see Kadarius Toney go for over 200 yards this past week against Kerauns defense. You have to think the game plan will be centered around stopping Justin Jefferson and forcing Wimmy to run the ball. JK Dobbins looked reborn after rushing for 200 yards in the loss against KC. A potential dev game could be on the horizon which could keep the score relatively low for both sides as the focus will be on the ground. Give me the Texans on a last second field goal- but could honestly go either way by 3.
NO 35 VS DEN 45:
Derek Carr was brought back to earth this past week throwing 4 interceptions in a loss to the Packers. The blueprint is out on how to stop the Saints air raid as they were held to 23 points. If DK opens up the tape and is able to execute on the offensive end, don’t be surprised if we have an upset on our hands and the Saints drop their 2nd straight.
Fallen –
NYJ 21 VS LAR 35:
I think this game will be a lot closer than what most may think. I know Greeny has been struggling, however, a huge win against the Seahawks has the fans in New York believing in Caleb Williams and are starting to see the vision of Coach Greeny. However, the spotlight is way too much this week taking on the reigning Super Bowl champions in the Los Angeles Rams.
CAR 17 VS TB 38:
JT has shown signs of potential as the Carolina Panthers are still figuring out their offensive scheme week over week, but the team is coming together on paper. This rivalry is intense though, but Baker Mayfield has been lighting the scoreboard up all season long, and you have to believe he is licking his chops facing a defensive unit that is known to send pressure all game long.
