Week 9 Power Rankings – PML Bows Down to the Dawgs

1.Cleveland Browns (8-0): Another week and another 40 berger put up by the Cleveland Browns. Deshaun Watson has been appearing on the trade block with looming rumours that Cleveland is seeking to elevate a younger quarterback off of their practice squad, stay tuned for the quarterback battles in Cleveland.

2. Green Bay Packers (6-1): We had a Josh Dobbs sighting this week against Houston, and Dobbs went 6 for 6 as Green Bay thrashed the CJ Storud-less Texans. Also, with the deadline for usage nearing, Green Bay found a way to feed their backups some carries.

3.New Orleans Saints (7-1): Derek Carr threw four touchdowns against a Los Angeles defense that statistically is sitting as a top ten defense, but could we see Carr reach X-factor soon? Will that sway JC to keep him on the roster for the rest of the cycle?

4.Kansas City Chiefs (6-1): Patrick Mahomes reached a new passing percentage this season as he missed on just two throws and completed 92% of his passes last week and the Kansas City players were rewarded with relaxation during their bye week.

5.New England Patriots (6-1): New England was rumoured to practice hard during their bye week and it caused their morale to increase, but it may impact how aware they are next week. Nonetheless, the Patriots are expected to come out swinging against the Rams in what should be a helluva game.

6. Buffalo Bills (5-2): Josh Allen has thrown at least one interception in 6 of his 7 games, but the offense for the Bills is cooking with 9 different receivers having at least 1 or more receptions.

7 .Houston Texans (5-3): “Madd” Max Duggan couldn’t handle the heat of the Green Bay Packers and tossed up a smooth five interceptions. I think Houston would have been more battle tested if CJ Stroud played in this game.

8.Los Angeles Chargers (6-2): This was the first real test for Codes and his Chargers and he was a let down. His 6 wins this season have come against .500 or worse teams, so time will tell if he has a fake record or not.

9. Seattle Seahawks (5-2): Bo NIx suffered a torn tricep that will have him out for the remainder of the season. It’s unfortunate for a player that was having a terrific season, however, Seattle does have Geno Smith and Sam Howell on the roster. There’s certainly worse backup quarterbacks in the league.

10.Los Angeles Rams (6-2): The Rams beat up on the Arizona Cardinals this week forcing Kyler Murray into throwing three interceptions. Jaylen Henderson only completed 53% of his passes, but it didn’t matter because the Rams defense made quick work of the Cardinals.

11 .Minnesota Vikings (4-4): Joe Milton has been having a hot and cold season. This week was no different as he threw for over three hundred yards, but he also tossed up four interceptions to the Titans. Minnesota’s success hinges on how well Milton protects the football, that’s important to note later in the season.

12 .Detroit Lions (5-2): Detroit is about to reach the toughest part of their schedule and if you recall, when they reached 5 wins last season and suffered a loss to the Bears, they plummeted and their team lost all their morale. The Lions need to keep their composure and stop the run, for goodness sake, they are giving up over 200 rushing yards a game.

13.Arizona Cardinals (4-3): Arizona has lost two back to back games against potential playoff opponents. Emari Demercado is having a wonderful season, in fact, the Arizona offense is very much in sync, but Kyler Murray’s six interceptions over the last two games is what has lost them both games.

14.New York Jets (4-4): The streak is over, that is the three game winning streak and the three game streak of not throwing any interceptions for Caleb Williams. In all four of their losses, Caleb Williams has had a 60% completion rate or lower, an interesting fact for the Jets head coach to consider.

15.Philadelphia Eagles (4-4): HD seemingly cannot beat Drama, despite having a hold on the division, the Eagles haven’t had the motivation to shut their divisional opponent up this cycle. It’s a crazy notion to think considering how stacked the Eagles are at almost every position.

16. Denver Broncos (4-4): Nick Chubb in Denver is a match made in Heaven, and Denver has the second most rushing yards per game this season, but it has only led to a .500 record. Despite the dominant ground game, Denver has to find some balance to defeat the better teams/coaches in the league.

17. Las Vegas Raiders (3-4): The four game drought is finally over in Las Vegas. Jayden Daniels had his best game since his first game as a rookie in week 1. He played turnover free football and relied on the ground game and his defense to win the game. The Raiders rushed for over 200 yards this week, a Las Vegas specialty.

18.Tampa Bay Buccaneers: (3-5): Cammy had a lot of success with Joe Burrow last Madden and he is showing that he can toss the rock with Baker Mayfield this Madden, but it hasn’t really equated to wins. I think a lot of people had higher hopes for Cammy when he was given the Buccaneers.

19.New York Giants (4-4): Uh oh, the New York Giants are leading the NFC East after a computer victory over the Jaguars this week. New York is a quiet 2-0 in the division and have a true test next week against the 7-1 New Orleans Saints.

20.Pittsburgh Seelers (3-5): Zach Wilson has thrown at least one interception in every game this season for the Steelers, but this week he added four touchdowns against a Commander’s team that is falling by the wayside.

21.Atlanta Falcons (3-5): I know this loss really stings for Nef, as he was defeated by JT and the Falcons. Atlanta mortgaged their future to being Jaylen Waddle to the team and what seemed like a loaded offense is quite pedestrian this season. There’s time to turn it around, but I really don’t know about this team.

22.Dallas Cowboys (2-5): If only the Cowboys has the Eagles on their schedule every week, cause they would go undefeated. Drama needs to find whatever motivation helped him win this week and use it every week, but on the bright side he’s only 1 loss shy of the division leader.

23.Indianapolis Colts (3-5): Anthony Richardson is back on his interception binge after throwing four interceptions in the past two weeks, both games resulting in losses. He is too good of a prospect to give up on, but Indy has to implement a better offense for him to run.

24.Miami Dolphins (3-4): Jordan Travis has been handed the reigns in Miami and the rookie picked up a victory this week and he has a quiet 6-3 touchdown to interception ratio. I don’t think he is going to lead Miami to the playoffs, but he is capable of picking up a few wins.

25. Tennessee Titans (2-6): Dlloyd comeback season? Maybe so. The Titans had a comeback run during the middle of last season and maybe the make an effort to do the same this season? They put up 40 points against Minnesota, which is 13 points over their average per game this season.

26.Chicago Bears (2-5): Is Jefe back? After losing a string of games due to being on vacation, the Bears picked up a key victory over the Lions this week. They are 3-0 versus Detroit this cycle and appear to have the number of the Lions.

27.San Francisco 49ers (1-6): San Francisco doesn’t appear to be on the up and up and the playoffs are dangerously out of reach. However, Deebo Samuel was traded this week and it has critics wondering if the 49ers have given up? Also, is trading for picks the move when the 49ers have difficulty developing their players?

28.Carolina Panthers (3-5): Carolina has two wins this season against divisional opponents, if only they could play this efficiently against the rest of their opponents. It’ll be hard for them to catch up to New Orleans, but Carolina is on pace to surpass their win total for last season.

29.Washington Commanders (2-6): The Commanders are on a four game losing streak and Ill be honest, after their week 4 victory, sitting at 2-2, I was a buyer for Miles, but it’s been a rough road for Washington. They have the third best defense against the rush, but they are the worst passing defense in the league.

30.Jacksonville Jaguars (1-7): How many games has Bandit missed this season? I’ve lost count, but the Jaguars are outdated and this franchise deserves better.

31.Baltimore Ravens (1-7): Lamar Jackson’s injury hasn’t helped the Raven’s and I think it goes to show how much worse they are without his presence. This team needs an overhaul quickly.

32.Cincinnati Bengals (1-7): I know Goose is sitting at the bottom of this ranking, but his Bengals are at least competing in their games unlike some others. I like the fight I see coming from Cincinnati week over week.

Z’s Corner: Divisional Dissections

NFC West:  Rams Outlast Cardinals at Rams House, Seahawks Protect Homefield Against San Fran, But Lose Bo Nix for the Season

       Rams: 6-2-0

       Seahawks: 5-2-0

       Cardinals: 4-3-0

       49ers: 1-6-0

Disaster strikes at Lumen Field. On the first drive of the second quarter, Seahawks quarterback Bo Nix received a hit from 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga, and although he completed the pass, he went down on the play grabbing his arm and causing the entire Seahawks stadium to fall into a deafening silence. The news was immediate, and horrendous, as he was diagnosed with a torn tricep, and will miss the remainder of his rookie season, dampening what will have been a great performance from the Seahawks. The Seahawks would move onto 5-2, while the 49ers, who have played much better than their record suggests, moves to 1-6

The Rams hosted the Cardinals in a shootout, one in which the Rams just seemed to have an extra counter for whatever the Cardinals threw at them. The Cardinals drop to 4-3 on the year while the Rams move to 6-2.

NFC South: Saints Create Separation; Falcons Plummet With a Loss to the Panthers at Home

  Saints: 7-1-0

Falcons: 3-5-0

Buccaneers: 3-5-0

Panthers: 3-5-0

The New Orleans Saints continue to roll, winning their last 3 games, including a dominating 35-16 win over the formidable Los Angeles Chargers. They will have a ton of momentum as they head into week 9 against Burn and the Giants. The other ¾ of the NFC South, however, has not been so fortunate. The Panthers were victorious over Nef and the Atlanta Waddles (Falcons), sending them to 3-5 and creating a 3 way tie for second in the division. The Falcons have lost 3 in a row. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also struggling, losing at home to the Raiders, and having also lost their last 3 games. Their schedule doesn’t get any easier, with the Chargers and Chiefs in weeks 9 and 10. The Falcons will travel to Brazil to play the Bears while the Panthers will embrace their bye week.

NFC East: Cowboys Beat Eagles Again; Commanders Lose Their Fourth Game in A Row; Giants Play Computer Jags

  Eagles: 4-4-0

Giants: 3-4-0

Commanders: 2-6-0

Cowboys: 2-5-0

The Cowboys have two wins on the season, both of them coming at the Eagles’ expense. The Eagles had a path to win the division, but their inability to put the Cowboys away when they had the opportunity is a shame. The Giants were able to pick up a win against the CPU Jags and now sit in first place in the NFC East, to everyone’s surprise. The Commanders lose again, and the Cowboys now have an opportunity to push for a division title.

NFC North: Packers Handle Texans; Vikings, Lions, Suffer Tough Losses; Bears Return From Brazil With a Bang

  Packers: 6-1-0

Lions: 5-2-0

Vikings: 4-4-0

Bears: 2-5-0

The Packers went into Houston and had a great day against the Texans, jumping out to a 35-0 lead to head into the second half. They will host the Lions next week. Speaking of the Lions, they lost to the Bears this week. Breece Hall had his way, carrying the ball 30 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns. The Bears will look to carry their momentum forward and get out of the hole a trip to Brazil dug for them as they host the Falcons next week. The Vikings suffered a tough loss to the Tennessee Titans right after they looked like they might be finding their form. They will travel to Miami next week to play the Dolphins.

AFC West: Raiders, Broncos Get Back in Win Column; Chiefs Enjoy Bye Week; Chargers Suffer Tough Loss in New Orleans

Chiefs: 6-1-0

Chargers: 6-2-0

Broncos: 4-4-0

Raiders: 3-4-0

The Raiders went into Tampa Bay and picked up a great win against the formidable Buccaneers. Rookie QB Jayden Daniels had a great day, completing 80% of his passes and also chipping in 98 rushing yards on the ground. The Raiders will host the Broncos next week. Speaking of the Broncos, they were able to get it done against the Baltimore Ravens, scoring 30 second half points on the way to a 44-22 victory. The Chargers dropped a game to the Saints in which it looks like their defense was just unable to get off the field; they will travel to their coach’s former home in Tampa Bay in week 9.

AFC South: Texans Overcome Injuries to Defeat Pittsburgh. Titans, Colts, Lose Big. Jaguars A Shell of Themselves

Texans: 5-3-0

Colts: 3-5-0

Titans: 2-6-0

Jaguars: 1-7-0

The Texans are dealing with an abundance of injuries, but the addition of Deebo Samuel will make their offense one of the most dangerous units in the league. The Colts had an opportunity to strike at the divisional lead, but couldn’t get out of their own way, losing to the Dolphins in a game they were leading. The Titans shocked everyone this week, beating the Vikings. The Jaguars CPU was unable to hold strong, losing to the Giants.

AFC East: Jets Lose At Home to Browns; Dolphins Narrow Win Over Colts; Bills Victorious Over Bengals at Home

Patriots: 6-1-0

Bills: 5-2-0

Jets: 4-4-0

Dolphins: 3-4-0

The Patriots were able to enjoy the comfort of a bye week this week, while all of their divisional opponents played this week. The Bills were able to force several second half

AFC North: Browns First To the Dance?

Browns: 8-0-0

Steelers: 3-5-0

Bengals: 1-7-0

Ravens: 1-7-0

The Cleveland Browns continue to move towards being the first team to secure a playoff spot, as their win over the Jets moves them to 8-0 on the season. They will enjoy their bye week next week. The Steelers were able to get a victory to move to 3-5 on the season, and both the Ravens and Bengals lost games in which they performed relatively well in for the first couple of quarters. They will need to work on playing a full 40 minutes in order to get back in the win column.
