PML Reality Checks: Dlloyd will make a push at K; Hot seat unoccupied?

Three or more quarterbacks will lose their development traits this season
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
Well here is my periodic update on a scenario that hits close to home for me as I was the first to lose a QB dev this cycle. Let’s get into it. By week 8, rookie 3rd overall pick, Drake Maye became a casualty to the league’s amended rule, knocking superstar and x-factor quarterbacks down to normal dev if thrown over 30 interceptions. Right behind him seems to be casualty number 2, Joe Burrow. Burrow, an X-factor quarterback with arguably the leagues best abilities stands to lose his trait as he currently sits at 22 interceptions, pacing him for 37 on the season. Also in the red right now, another top tier ability quarterback in the AFC is Josh Allen. He is currently on pace for 36 interceptions and is averaging 2.1 per game, half an interception a game above the leagues per game threshold. Just a few quarterbacks to keep an eye on that will surely help keep the heat off me this cycle for losing Lamar’s dev.

The NFC Champion cannot be predicted…yet
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
Looking mid-season, we have four teams who standout to me as contenders to represent the conference against either the Patriots or Browns in the Super Bowl. The Saints (9-1), Packers (7-1), Seahawks (7-2), and the reigning Super Bowl champion Rams who currently sit at (7-3) are easily the four favorites to represent the NFC. This one is anyone’s call as it will be very difficult to say who will be standing in the end. However, here is the one outlier I see. Hype, Z, and JC all have a history of folding in the playoffs. Could this trend continue? That leaves us with Cook and the Rams. The issue with this is that the Rams roster is nowhere near as put together as the other 3 in the field. To date, the Packers have beat the Saints which was the only matchup between the four teams. The Seahawks and Rams obviously will play twice during the second half of the season and week 15 we are treated to a Rams vs Packers and a Seahawks vs Saints duel main event. A good ol’ fatal four way that should possibly help us decide who the favorites will be. Until then, your guess is as good as mine.

DLloyd Has a Real Shot at Winning the AFC South
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
As the division sits now, DLoyd and and CB sit at 4-6 tied for 2nd in the division, and Keraun sits at 5-4 and first in the division. We still have a long way to go, and it looks like DLloyd is starting to put a couple games together after a rough start to the season. We have seen DLloyd compete at a high level before. Although we know he is all about having fun, we know it will be even more fun for him to win the division this year and compete in the playoffs. DLloyd has the football mind and ability to overcome the hole he put himself in to start the season, but it will be interesting to see what kind of DLloyd we get down the stretch. Are we going to get the new age having fun DLloyd, or are we going to see the DLloyd of old that I know first hand that had Darnell Moss season 1 tearing up the league in that NFC West with me. Time will tell, but we’ll see what happens.

The NFC West May Be More Competitive Than the AFC West
Reality or overreaction: Reality
The fact of the matter is that the NFC West has three competitors at this point in the season that could all win the division. Z’s Seahawk sit at the top at 7-2, with Cook’s Rams closely following in second at 7-3, and then Que’s Cardinals are right behind at 6-3. At this point it is anyone’s division between those 3 with a lot of season to go. However, the AFC West is a two man race between Codes’ Chargers and Matigy’s Chiefs, as they both sit at 7-2. Kingmike and myself are failing to live up to the standard that we set for ourselves, and we have some work to do to reach the potential that we know that we can live up to. However, as stated before, there is still a little ways to go, so only time will tell how everything shakes up no only within these two divisions, but across the league. In the meantime though, the NFC West is the most competitive division at this point, and it’s not close.

Is SPDot best team in AFC East?
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
When you think of the AFC East, you think about the #1 pick in the draft and the Jets, or the speed of the Dolphins offense, or the dynamic QB of the Bills. But the Pats are the team that stands atop the AFC East at this point. SpDot has played exceptionally well with this roster, playing elite defense, and limiting turnovers with a strong rushing attack. This Pats roster is just hitting its stride as rookie QB Riley Leonard has started to put the pieces together to push this team into a division championship and a playoff run. The Pats still have a long season in front of them including two more division games and also having both the Chiefs and Seahawks at the end of the season. If SpDot and this team continue to play smart football they can play with any team in the AFC and with a rookie QB that gets better by the week that can be very dangerous in the playoffs

Is CEO on the hot seat?
Reality or Overreaction: Overreaction
When the cycle started, many had CEO as a potential Super Bowl contender. CEO known for being a smart, run first coach with Super Bowl caliber. Seemed like a perfect fit for the 49ers, arguably one of the top teams in Madden. Season 1 CEO played up to expectations and fizzled out in the playoffs. Season two, has not gone as well. CEO has struggled to play the run heavy style we are accustomed to seeing, and has now fallen to 2-6, bottom of the NFC West. In a division so strong a 2-6 start is just about season ending. But is CEO on the hot seat? After his S1 success and previous history I don’t see CEO being in the hot seat. While CEO has a top team, the cap has been an issue for the 49ers that he’s been trying to address. Purdy has thrown a lot of INTs, and CEO needs to get back to what he knows best, running the bal behind the beat back in the league. I think CEO is primed for a huge bounce back season in S3

The AFC still runs through Cleveland.
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
The Browns took a shocking loss to the Atlanta Falcons recently. However, the Falcons are one of the few teams that play up to their competition. We know when they play the best of the best they put on their A Game. That is what happened in that game. Despite that loss, the Browns are still first in their division and are among the top few teams in the AFC. They still may be in play for the 1st seed based off of a few head to head regular season matchups.

There’s no one on the hot seat this season.
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
Believe it or not, I believe no one this season is getting the boot. I feel like the only guys in trouble may be users who are underperforming AND have low content points. There may be a few users that get an eye, but they will still probably be back next season. These days you never know because we have so many guys who are waiting for a chance to get into PML.
