Transcript: Seahawks Head Coach Press Conference

How quickly can you tell if a young player is a football player if he thinks about it because it seems like at the Combine they’re all saying the right thing and it’s the job. How quickly does it take?

It takes a few weeks for a young player to get acclimated. The game starts to slow down and you can watch them in real time get better. It's also on us as a coaching staff to make sure we do the right things off the field to help them develop. Whether that be in coaching meetings, with the training staff, or even what I say on the podium, it all goes into player development.

I want to ask you about the receiver position in general. How have you seen that position evolve in importance over the years and how does having a player like WR D.K. Metcalf sort of factor into that perspective?

D.K. is a focal point of our team. He wins just about every matchup and is very important to our offense. It has been great watching him evolve over time and become a more reliable receiver. We must do a better job getting him involved.

Can you speak to the overall team health?

We don't have any more injuries than other teams. Bo Nix going down tanked the team's momentum, but other teams have found way to get over the hump and get wins. We have not, and we're a terrible football team that's lost 5 in a row.
