Which new player are you most excited about and why?
I think Deone Walker is the most exciting to watch. To see someone at 350 lbs, 6'6, move so quickly and with such explosiveness, it's a wonder of the world. Our rush defense has had a lot of trouble these past couple seasons and we really emphasized improving the depth of our offensive and defensive lines. Deone is such a versatile player that we can play him where we need him. Edge, End, 3 technique, Nost Tackle, we're confident he can do it all.
Which young player do you predict will break out this season?
I think Nick Emmanwori has a great opportunity to carve quite the role out of this SubLB eligible position he has found himself in. He needs some help with his awareness and potentially some in run support. As of now, he's playing as our SLCB. He had several picks in the preseason and he already looks like he has a nose for the football. We're very excited to see the young safety perform this year.
What was the highlight of your team's offseason?
It's gotta be Tua right? And not because I stole him away from a close friend (Along with 2 other FAs from FA1). No because he gives us a better chance to win football games. And right now, with the money we had available, why not try Tua out for a 1 year tryout? Joe will continue to improve and I expect Tua to play a more quality brand of football for our team this season, while Joe gets another year of experience under his belt.
