Cook’s Pre and Post DDT Draft Grades: Picks 21-32!

#21 – Dolphins select OLB Mohamed Kaba
Pre DDT Grade: C-
Pre DDT Analysis: The final draft pick to make from the Waddle trade makes you feel like they reallyyyyy should’ve kept Waddle if they were gonna draft players like this that you can just sign in FA for 3 mil a year. 91 pursuit rating should help him be a good run stopper out the box.

Post DDT Grade: D
Post DDT Analysis: Normal dev and some extra consideration to how much AR it will take to maybe make this guy ready for season 5 has me deducting this one even further down.

#22 – Cardinals select LT Will Campbell
Pre DDT Grade: A
Pre DDT Analysis: The Cardinals get ahead of the curve drafting a DJ Humphries replacement now…and they got a guy that can replace DJ Humphries NOW! Emari Demarcado loves this pick. Who said Que only needs a top 5 pick to draft well?

Post DDT Grade: A
Post DDT Analysis: Star dev almost makes me want to move this to A+, but we’ll hold station for at A.

#23 – Lions select WR Aaron Anderson
Pre DDT Grade: B+
Pre DDT Grade: Last year’s WR class was generational, this year not so much. The 2nd WR goes at 23, and it’s a solid pick. The Lions might’ve gotten their future slot WR and Amon-Ra St Brown replacement. Only problem is he’s 5’8, and no AR or spamming will fix that even with 96 speed.

Post DDT Grade: B
Post DDT Analysis: Slight deduction for Normal dev, but he still fixes to be a solid day 1 slot receiver.

#24 – Browns select WR Evan Stewart
Pre DDT Grade: B+
Pre DDT Grade: Well whenever Amari Cooper falls off of a cliff, the Browns got a guy to plug into his spot. Until then, Stewart has a great mentor while being Day 1 ready out the gate for one of the weakest WR rooms in the league. Stewart didn’t have the physicals to go higher, but his slide finally stopped.

Post DDT Grade: A-
Post DDT Grade: Having a Star dev rookie receiver in KMFO’s hands feels like it’ll be inevitable that he gets a dev game and leads the team in touchdowns.

#25 Cowboys select LG Tegra Tshabola
Pre DDT Grade: B+
Pre DDT Analysis: Definitely more of a need pick than anything else with Zach Martin AND Tyron Smith hanging up their helmets this offseason. This was not a deep oline draft class, so you couldn’t afford to wait for a guy to fall for you and Dallas [and their draft board] grabbed their much desired big ugly.

Post DDT Grade: B
Post DDT Analysis: Normal dev makes it a bit tough knowing Drama isn’t gonna get 20 content points put into this man. But still a solid pick.

#26 – Browns select LB Abdul Carter
Pre DDT Grade: A-
Pre DDT Analysis: While Carter was looked at as a raw prospect, he’s actually very Day 1 ready. The Browns needed one more coverage linebacker on their roster, and it looks like Carter will make the transition to off ball LB to fill that need.

Post DDT Grade: B+
Post DDT Analysis: Normal dev, plus the transition to off ball LB makes this pick feel a bit more underwhelming than it needs to be for me. This is suddenly a project pick.

#27 – Chiefs select DT Tim Keenan II
Pre DDT Grade: B-
Pre DDT Analysis: The need is obvious after the Chiefs traded Chris Jones last offseason. The Chiefs front office is not interested in flashy picks, but smart picks. This was a smart pick.

Post DDT Grade: B
Post DDT Analysis: Star dev should help get the ball rolling here. He arguably needed this dev to avoid bust territory.

#28 – Saints select QB/WR Maalik Murphy
Pre DDT Grade: B+
Pre DDT Analysis: Murphy is a good QB prospect, and he’s ready to start on a Saints team with Super Bowl aspirations. Given the numbers Derek Carr put up [in the regular season] the past 2 seasons, this was a perfect landing spot for Murphy. The Saints felt the pressure of Murphy being one of the only good QBs left in the entire class on the board and pulled the trigger for their guy.

Post DDT Grade: B+
Post DDT Analysis: Well, nothing really changes with normal dev. Murphy has the tools to be great.

#29 – Packers select HB Jawhar Jordan
Pre DDT Grade: B
Pre DDT Analysis: This was not a deep HB class, and the Packers needed a new bell cow back to replace AARON JONES. Jordan has 94 speed out the gate to be an immediate impact player. Like Murphy the pick before, Jordan went to the perfect system. Hypemike has a rep for his stick work, and he’ll need to put that on display now that juke box is not on the roster.

Post DDT Grade: B
Post DDT Analysis: Normal dev doesn’t concern me, a RB dev isn’t hard to trigger. 92 carrying is a great attribute for a rookie that’ll be the bell cow back.

#30 Bengals select CB Gentry Williams
Pre DDT Grade: A+
Pre DDT Analysis: This was a generational CB class, and a lot of the league didn’t get the memo. Cincinnati did, and now form a feared threesome of athletic CBs on their roster. Also bonus points for Williams getting Star dev out the box before we even got to DDT!

Post DDT Grade: A+
Post DDT Analysis: I mean, Star dev sure why not. Can Gentry Williams somehow have a better season than the CBs taken before him? Possibly.

#31 – Patriots select MLB Tyreem Powell
Pre DDT Grade: A
Pre DDT Analysis: This is very similar to the Abdul Carter pick, as Powell was drafted as a OLB but will transition to off ball LB to fill a need. Powell is a rawer prospect than Carter, but also has a higher upside with his elite physical traits.

Post DDT Grade: A
Post DDT Analysis: Turns out Powell has moved back to OLB for the Patriots, but I’d expect him to be all over the field for a LB core searching for an alpha. Oh and he got a +2 speed roll? Nice!

#32 – Rams select TE RJ Maryland
Pre DDT Grade: B-
Pre DDT Analysis: The Rams are the first team to invest in a really solid TE draft class by taking most likely the best toy in the chest. It fills a definite need on this roster, but there were other good players on the board the Rams could’ve snagged if they went best available.

Post DDT Grade: C+
Post DDT Analysis: We’re not gonna pretend to be shocked that a SMU Mustang got Normal dev, but it still does make you wonder who this pick could’ve been instead.
