NFC East Roundup (Week 2)

This is going to be a weekly article where I will take a look at a snapshot of the NFC East games each week and see how each of the teams did and what the standings are. This division, despite half the division being given the top 2 rosters, has been a complete and utter failure of a division. The Cowboys have won the division by default generally, though they have underperformed badly given the team. We will see this year if any other team can rise up and take the division crown from them. The Giants almost did it last season, but failed embarrassingly.

Cowboys 24 – Packers 52

The Cowboys were looking for their first win of the season in a rematch from last season. This game was close but the Packers pulled away. The Cowboys defense that held last week, let Love throw all over them, while Prescott threw to the Packer defense. It seems that the offense is struggling without their superstar lineman which is forcing Dak into more interceptions this season.
Notable Statistic: Love outplayed Dak, throwing for the same amount of touchdowns as Dak had interceptions.

Eagles 50 – Raiders 35

If the Eagles can score 50 every week, then they won’t have to worry about defense at all. The run game was fantastic, rushing for almost 300 yards. Hurts threw 3 interceptions, but that didn’t affect the offense one bit. The defense forced turnovers when they needed them, but they needed to stop the opposing team from scoring points. I doubt that the offense will be as productive in every game, but if the defense can match them at any point, this team will be hard to stop.

Notable Statistic: Eagles Rushing By Committee – 21 Rushes 293 Yards 5 TD

Commanders 35 – Bears 48

The Commanders ironically scored the same amount of points as last week. They suffered a loss again due to the defense letting them down. Was trading your best defensive player the right move? It may be for the future but for the current season it wasn’t. The offense is impressively putting up points despite a lackluster offensive line. The defense ranks last in most statistical categories and it will be a long season unless something changes soon. It doesn’t matter how much you score, if your defense can never make a stop.

Notable Statistic: Hall 19 Rushes 113 Yards 3 TD, 3 Receptions 77 Yards 1 TD

Giants 10 – Chiefs 45
The Giants offense can do nothing right. Something always goes wrong on most offensive possessions. If it’s not Ewers throwing an inaccurate pass, it’s a receiver dropping the ball, or the offensive line getting beat for a quick sack or throw out of sack. The issues are going to occur and they need to find a way to overcome it. They don’t have the right personal to run what they are trying to run and it shows. Defenses will bring defenders to the line all day like the first two games until they can stop it. Injuries are piling from this last game so it’s a perfect time to change up the scheme. Defense needs to step up and stop the short passing game. It’s now two games that teams have focused on this and no adjustment has been made.

Notable Statistic:
Ewers 14/31 171 Yards, 0TD 4INT
Chiefs Offense: 450 Yards 6 TD

The NFC East finally got their first win but that’s all it was. The Eagles are on the board first and look to be the best of the bunch so far. We have seen this with this Eagles team though. Can they take advantage of their lead?
