This is going to be a weekly article where I will take a look at a snapshot of the NFC East games each week and see how each of the teams did and what the standings are. This division, despite half the division being given the top 2 rosters, has been a complete and utter failure of a division. The Cowboys have won the division by default generally, though they have underperformed badly given the team. We will see this year if any other team can rise up and take the division crown from them. The Giants almost did it last season, but failed embarrassingly.
Cowboys 27 – Giants 41
Both teams were coming in at 0-2 and needed a win. They play each other twice in three weeks so it could be a huge factor in who could be leading the division. This game was played twice and was not without controversy. With about 7 minutes left in the first game, the Giants were up 1 with a 4 and inches to go. It looked like Ewers and company were about to go for it when the game was stopped. After a brief delay, the game was restarted with a seven point Giant lead. Both offenses matched each other, with Diggs taking over for the Giants offense. Whenever he was pressed he beat it easily for a touchdown. Once the Giants went up 24-17, that was the turning point in the game. They forced the Cowboys into some turnovers and let the running game take over for their first victory over the Cowboys of the cycle.
Notable Statistic: Ewers 12/18 330 Yards, 4 TDS
Eagles 35 – Lions 41
This game featured two teams who are known for their offenses and it didn’t disappoint. Both teams showed off, scoring at will. The Eagles continued their dominant rushing attack, while the Lions showed off their passing attack. Usually with these types of games the winner is the one who can make the most defensive stops. This went to the Lions as they were able to intercept Hurts twice, while the Eagles only intercepted Goff once.
Notable Statistic: Eagles 516 yards of offense in the loss
Commanders 42 – Packers 52
The Commanders need to go out and find a defense anywhere. They can’t stop the pass, stop the run or force turnovers. Teams are doing whatever they want versus them. This was the case in this week’s game as well. The Packers threw for over 400 yards and ran for over 150 yards. The Commanders offense continues to put up points but it doesn’t matter if the other team scores more. Trade rumors are swirling where they are looking to find some pieces in the secondary. Will this help the team?
Notable Statistic: Both teams have almost the same amount of total yards, but the turnovers the Packers forced was the difference in the game.
The Eagles and Giants are now tied for the division lead but for how long? These teams don’t play their first game until much later in the season but they once again play in week 18. Could this game finally matter for once? This could be a game that decides the division winner.
Eagles 1-2
Giants 1-2
Cowboys 0-3
Commanders 0-3
